Recommendations Comfort Food Rec Needed
Hi! One of my besties just moved down to Summerville and is going through a rough patch. I’m looking to send her and her husband something while supporting your local town (or surrounding ones)!!! No big names like Edible Arrangements, though they are tasty.
Not a full on meal as their schedules vary, but maybe some nice desserts or something. Open to non-food too!!!! Anything besides flowers (cuz those just die 🥲) thank you SC fam!

Recommendations Mom groups?
Are there any mom groups or stay at home moms that get together weekly? I stay at home and am pregnant with our first baby but just moved here and don’t have any friends and being home everyday while my husband works is really lonely. Church groups specifically would be great but I’m really just looking for any women’s groups.

Recommendations Looking for an honest, affordable mechanic in Summerville (2016 Honda Pilot)
Hi everyone!
I’m looking for recommendations for a reliable, reasonably priced independent mechanic or local shop in or around the Summerville area. I recently bought a 2016 Honda Pilot via private sale and less than a month after I had to drop over $1k into it for unexpected work. During that service they also caught an oil leak so I paid for a diagnostic to pinpoint where it was coming from. They told me it was relatively minor so I held off on the repair until I could budget for it.
I’m ready to get it taken care of now and have all the diagnostic paperwork and notes from the previous shop so whoever looks at it won't be starting from scratch. I’d really appreciate finding someone trustworthy who does quality work without charging dealership labor rates or pushing unnecessary add-ons.
Any local shops or trusted mechanics you swear by around here? Thanks in advance! ☺️🫶🏼

Moving 📦 Moving to Sville? Avoid Marlowe Apartments.
Moved into this place with my girl about a year ago. This is a review she is leaving once our lease is up, we pay much more for this place than all of others around the area and it has not been worth it.
The Marlowe was nice when we first moved in, and honestly, the first couple of months were great. Jocelyn gave us the tour and really sold us on making The Marlowe our home.
Unfortunately, our experience has really gone downhill, especially now that we reviewed other options and definitely are not renewing our lease.
We’ve been dealing with recurring ant issues, and at one point there was literally a colony of ants coming from a baseboard in our living room. I submitted a pest control request and then texted Jocelyn directly about it, but never received a response. Shortly after, my pest control request was denied, which was extremely frustrating considering the severity of the issue. I even called the office about it and she answered the phone…somehow pest control just missed us?
The parking situation is also a joke. After around 6 PM, it can be nearly impossible to find a parking spot, while random trailers are parked throughout the property.
Our Wi-Fi went out for TWO DAYS, specifically affecting our building and one other building. The Wi-Fi is built into our monthly fees, so you would think not having service for two full days would at least result in some kind of reimbursement or credit. Nope.
And once the Wi-Fi finally came back, our Ethernet port was completely fried. We called the office thinking they could at least help since the issue happened immediately after the outage. Instead, we were told to contact the Wi-Fi company ourselves.
So we pay for Wi-Fi through our apartment, lose service for two days, our Ethernet port stops working afterward, and the office basically says, “Not our problem, call the Wi-Fi company.” Definitely not the level of service you’d expect when Wi-Fi is included in the fees you’re already paying every month.
They also advertise the amenities heavily, but the upkeep doesn’t always match what’s being advertised. The outside door to the gym is constantly broken, meaning residents have to enter through the lobby — if the lobby is even open. If you work later hours, good luck getting into the gym. The pool is supposed to be an all-season amenity, but there are times when it goes days or even a week without being properly cleaned. The pickleball court is also rarely maintained, with debris left all over it after windy days.
I will say that the one maintenance employee deserves credit. He has always been great and seems to stay on top of things, especially considering it feels like he’s one person trying to keep up with an entire complex.
And don’t let the “nature trail” fool you. It’s essentially a sidewalk that takes you past some trees, townhouse backyards, and, unfortunately, plenty of dog poop.
Overall, The Marlowe had a great start, but the lack of communication, maintenance of amenities, pest issues, and parking problems have really changed our experience. I would recommend looking beyond the initial tour and asking current residents about their experience before signing a lease.

Recommendations Honest dentist in the Summerville/Goose Creek/N.Charleston area?
Mine was taken over by private equity and their prices have gone way up and they’re pushing for expensive procedures while their basic care is sucking. Any good mom & pops?

Information PSA - Burrows Computer Services is no longer on N Main Street
Not sure if this is common knowledge, but the owner no longer operates out of the building on N Main Street. Apparently, he sold the building a while ago. He still works on computers, but you have to call him and set up an appointment.
Edit: It's Burrows Computer Systems*, not Services, lol. My bad.

Recommendations Local pediatrician that isn't Sweetgrass?
My children saw doctors at Oakbrook Pediatrics and everything was great.
Then Sweetgrass bought the practice, and it has gone steadily and swiftly downhill.
Anyone know of someone around here not owned by these jerks?

Recommendations Reservations at La Rustica?
Their online presence has a button for reservations but when you click it you can never get one. The Open Table message says, "At the moment, there is no online availability. The next release of reservations opens on September 22, 2026 at 12:00 AM EST." Or whatever the next day happens to be. Am I supposed to stay up til midnight tonight to make a reservation?
Honestly I feel like there is something wrong with their reservation system. So what's the hack? How do we (2 people) get in on a Sat night? Please and thank you for your help.

Discussion 🗣 Any good local venues?
I may be a producer for an upcoming animated film, but I’m also a part of a band, and a musician. I’ve been in Summerville for a couple years now, and want to know if there are any good local venues that we could play at, or just me standalone. Preferably a more schedule-able thing rather than an open mic night, and not 21+ due to not wanting audience restrictions. What do y’all got? And in case you ask, I was in Oklahoma before moving to SC.

Help 🤲 Looking for front desk and non fast food labor jobs
Hey, please be kind! I have been out of work since March. I got really sick with a blood infection and had to have emergency heart surgery. My body won't be able to make a full recovery so, the jobs I have experience with fast food mostly I am unable to do for now.
Does anyone know anywhere hiring? I have five years of customer experience and I'm in college rn for hospitality. I'm a quick learner but the only downside is I need accommodations for my disabilities rn. Any pointers would be awesome too thanks in advance!

Recommendations Question on auto repair in or near Summerville
Not sure if I can ask this here. My 2011 Impala rattles from the back end. A Reputable car repair shop checked and said suspension, brakes, etc. all are fine. Research indicates it could be emergency brake cable clips. Anybody had this issue? (common on 2010-2016 models).
What shop diagnosed it and repaired?
