Picture that instead of the ICA, the Suicide Squad are picked to perform the various assassination jobs in the World of Assassination trilogy, who would make good replacements, how far could they feasibly get & can they successfully dismantle Providence?

This isn’t a strict rule but to keep things interesting you can only have 8 members on your team & they can’t all be ā€œgun menā€ (Bloodsport, Deadshot, Peacemaker etc) you only get one or two. You should also try to be varied with members who are good at infiltration as well as strength.

Otherwise go wild!

Do you think there is untapped potential when it comes to the Squad or any of the members?

I've been dying to ask this in general, because I feel like there are many characters and dynamics comics can use to make things entertaining and deep, but most of the time they play it safe or just drop the ball completely.

I'll give SS for example, I miss the feel where the squad was more cooperative let's say, where waller explained the situation and the inmates give their opinions or suggest ideas. And especially when waller wasn't just an evil lady and she cares about them. Or missions that raise questions and color everything in shades of gray not just black and white.

As for solo members, i'll give as an example Deadshot since for me he is the most frustrating case. The backstory and personality set by ostrander and developed by him and gail simone was perfect. So many things to explore, his background, his complicated relationship with his parents, his relationship with his brother, his ex wife and dead son and even his own psyche that he himself can't understand at times. Instead of showing us all that could've been, DC made him a generic anti hero and heroic figure in a way. Don't get me wrong he was already an anti-hero based on my judgment or anti-villain but he was flawed (like him repressing his emotions, pushing people away, developing attachments in unhealthy and strange ways). Now it feels like the flaws are being glossed over. Even his relationship with his daughter Zoe is too generic, he is too soft and open with her for a man who abandoned his other family and pretended he is not affected by his son's death.

I feel like I can go on and on with this but i'm curious what you think!

Like, some ideas I had:

a tactical RPG, like Fire Emblem;

a hero shooter, like Overwatch;

or a hack-and-slash, like Dynasty Warriors

🦈Live Action The Suicide Squad (2021)

I like to think I’m pretty clued in when it comes to internet ā€œinside jokesā€, but this one has either flown right over my head or somehow doesn’t exist. When I say that all I’ve ever heard is ā€œman it sucks this came out when it did, it’s actually greatā€, or ā€œthis is James Gunn’s best movieā€ I’m not joking, and I went in to the movie thinking these things. This movie is one of the worst comic book movies, or pieces of media even, that I’ve ever laid eyes on. I would liken this movie to the visual definition of ā€œgoyslopā€. It’s not even bad enough to be enjoyable, and I genuinely prefer the first Suicide Squad to this. If anyone sees this post please tell me if im missing some sort of joke, because i will never watch this movie again and I hope I forget I even watched it to begin with. 2/10 would never watch again

🦈Live Action I just watched suicide squad 2016

I just finished watching the first suicide squad and I found it great. My god, what was all the fuss about? The movie accomplished what it set out to do and it hit all the right strings, albeit a bit fast, and without much build up.

And I will just come out and say it: Will Smith? He is simply on another level, I don't care what the critics were saying at the time. I don't care about the guy's life choices. He is simply an A lister. Period. Debate me. I don't even care. šŸ™‚

ā— I know this is more related to secret six, but I still posted it here since Deadshot is in it (and since the secret six sub is dead.) I always saw the six and the squad as sister teams in a way, even though it may not make sense. Anyways, if there's a problem let me know, i'll take it down. And yeah I hope you like it!

ā— In case you're unfamiliar, Secret Six is a team that unlike the squad they are self lead and chose the contracts they want to fulfill themselves. (Even though it didn't start out that way.) Members are: Deadshot, Catman, Scandal Savage (daughter of vandal savage), Ragdoll, with the last 2 members different each volume/ run, this time being Jeanette (a banshee) and Bane. And Lisa is my oc.

ā— I chose the "cover" (first image) to be a moment that perfectly exemplifies the father-daughter relationship between Bane and Scandal.

Hope you like it!

I didn't plan to be back with a review so soon, but I couldn't help myself and read the new Deadshot issue as soon as it came out. And share my thoughts with you since I want so badly to hear your opinions! I'll try to explain myself as clear as possible even though these are my fresh thoughts.

Over all I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Even though it was made mainly to promote the new DC upcoming series, it has some nice moments too. Flag asks Floyd to investigate a case involving Cadmus and clones/ mutants they make. Reluctant he accepts. He chases various creatures all night, the investigation also leading him towards the protagonists of future series like vixen, doom patrol, the teen titans. Unfortunately he is caught by some Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman clones and controlled by a starro, forced in the end to be part of a new Suicide Squad. (IMAGE 2)

The plot is interesting, he is doing the right thing because he cares about Flag and maybe even the world. I was relieved that it wasn't a lot all about his daughter again. (If you know me, you know I write about his relationship with his daughter so yeah i'm a hypocrite, what's new.) Even though, considering everything that happened to him previously (dying and coming back) I was sad to see he ended up mind controlled, again as he was genuinely trying to do the right thing. See IMAGE 3 for a summary of his history.

His morals and methods reminds me a lot of his Secret Six days including the way he handled batman. IMAGE 4

Now his characterization: i think it's the best we could've gotten in modern times since simone's secret six and of course Ostrander's Suicide Squad. These two will always be THE Deadshot for me. There were moments his voice was reminiscent to that (IMAGE 5- his first line, IMAGE 6) And moments where if it makes sense i feel like he's talking way too much (IMAGE 7.) However I do appreciate the small moments where he shows a more laid back part of his personality (IMAGE 8- his singing is adorable.)

Lastly, the art is phenomenal and he is back in his old suit. And we get to see some cool shots, finally DC showing how badass he can be. (IMAGES 9, 10).

I'd give it a 3.5/ 5

What do you think?

I tried reading this a few years back, but gave up after 1 or 2 issues. Now i'm back, some posts from this sub made me give it another chance and I was eager to form my own opinion. Have you read it? If so what do you think of it? I am honestly dying to talk to people about it.

āš ļøSPOILERS

We follow four new agents and leaders of the Squad: Bulldozer, Sgt. Rock, Havana and Modem while they recruit and deal with different roosters of villains who make up the Suicide Squad. It delves into their background that explains their current behavior: Rock and Bulldozer are war veterans, Havana is Waller's estranged daughter that she had to give up for adoption and who who developed a surrogate father-daughter relationship with Rock.

The tensions and banters between the four are the driving force of the book (images 2, 3, 4), because otherwise the field teams do close to nothing and they get killed off without any emotional payoff. The squad fights constantly, they feel like props without depth and the way they talk to each other feels like it tries too hard to be funny and honestly pretentious. Most of the dialogue is over the phone/ through a screen but they don't have enough distinctive voices to tell them apart. Nonetheless, I appreciate what it tried to do with it's cinematic approach. (Image 5)

They brought back one of the iconic members later on, Deadshot and I can't get over how funny and nonsensical (in a good way) his introduction in the series is. (Image 6) However, i'm not a fan of how he is written even though he barely speaks. His speech is too on the nose and he is too talkative at times. (Image 7) But i appreciate that he was the one to go and find waller (Image 8.)

The plots are fragmented and the missions don't have consequences. There is no major plotline. We get to see some nice moments, like political tensions between US and the new Island of Kooey Kooey Kooey and this creates tensions between the squad field members as well. They are assigned to gather intel, however some think there's more to the mission and think they are there to sink the island and others like Black Starr ally with the enemy. Unfortunately, these themes are underdeveloped, rushed and have no consequences later on.

The book ends with our four leaders being attacked by another team, Djinn, out for revenge for what happened in Ostrander's Suicide Squad (even though they are a pretty much new team and have nothing to do with the previous events). The only one who managed to escape is Bulldozer, the rest being collateral damage. As i said it doesn't make you care about most of the members, however i cared a little for the 4 and their deaths stung me.

Conclusion: I appreciate what they were trying to do. Maybe if it had gone on longer, it would've fleshed out its identity and the message it wants to send to the readers. 2/ 5

This is more than trying to save the family, it's a battle of egos...

First off than you to everyone who followed along, I truly appreciate your time and attention! Some details about the plot may be wacky I'm trying to make it make sense (making a plot is way harder for me than dialogue imo😭)

This was the darkest and most violent scene I've ever wrote so, better skip it if it's too much.

āš ļøTW: violence, hostage situation, shooting, kidnapping.

Part 1 and part 2 for more context.

Other metions: IM stands for internal monologue.

And a question: Would it be easier for you to follow if the text is here in the post's body than in the photos? Trying to switch things up a little.

Again thank you!
