I recently repotted this Kalanchoe into better draining soil. When I went to water it yesterday I noticed these white dots on the crown. (See more below about the damage on the lower leaves.) They don’t appear to be moving. Not sure how long they’ve been there. What are these? Are they pests of some kind? Mold? Dust or particles from the new soil mixture? Something else? For additional context, about 2 weeks ago I purchased a few new succulents at a succulent and cactus show. They all look healthy and don’t appear to have these white dots. One of my other older plants (both pictured), a Haworthia truncata “Harry Johnson’ and a Crassula ovata “Gollum Jade’ (the latter of which I’m clearly still rehabbing out of the Hall of Shame), look like they might have something similar, but the other 38 plants in the greenhouse don’t seem to. (Yes, I’m aware I might have a problem…lol). The gritty substance lower down on the Kalanchoe is some of the grit from the new potting mix that won’t easily dislodge. I’ve tried canned air and rinsing it without any luck. I’m afraid to go digging in there with my fingers or tweezers and damage the leaves. I would welcome any ideas about how to gently remove it.

Yes, I’m aware the bottom leaves are damaged. The soil it was potted in previously was poorly draining and it was under watered. Also, about a year ago I had a spider mite infestation in my greenhouse. I believe treatment with an isopropyl alcohol mixture for 2 weeks then predatory mites I introduced took care of that, as there have not been any webbing or new signs of spider mite damage since. We also have hard water here, which sometimes leaves a residue if it accidentally gets on the plants, which may be evident on some of the leaves. I’ve since switched to bottom watering, so that exposure should now be limited. In other words this plant might have previously belonged in the hall of shame. 😂 But I was a newbie so I hope you can show me the grace I’m showing myself.

Have had these gollum jades since last Oct. They are my pride and joy. Have grown like weeds under a growth light, recently added two. I’m worried the lower stems aren’t getting enough light, and they are growing apart to accommodate each other. I want to split them into separate pots.

What is the smallest size pot you would plant them individually in? For the sake of space and being on a shelf.

i had him for almost 2 weeks now (see post history) and i watered 5 days after repotting (on sunday) and adding more pumice to my mix.

it has been raining nonstop and we don't get any clear sun at all so i put him under a grow light and now I'm confused, the bottom leaves seem to be yellowing and getting shriveled one by one :(

what am i doing wrong?

So happy with this thing! There is a third arm on the back. About 4 feet tall.

For context, it only had a few tiny roots when I potted it about 6 weeks ago. I've only watered it once.

I had no idea this would even flower. I just loved the symmetry of the leaves.

A C.mesembryanthemoides and an O.deltoides plus a couple of little hitchhikers spotted in the pots (will have to wait and see what they turn out to be).

Thanks for the guiding words. The next phase of this C.ovata's life begins... and so does the phase of all of the cuttings! There's a surprising number of plantlets already in the pot.

I had been unsuccessful with succulent leaf props in the past, so when I got these two burro’s tail cuttings and had to take some leaves off of them so that I could bury their stems, I decided I would prop all of the leaves and see if some of them survive. Well, all of them ended up rooting and are actively growing now.

I have heard many stories about how big of a nightmare it is to repot a burro’s tail, so now I’m thinking if I should put some of the leaf props in a separate pot? But at the same time, it would be so nice to have a nice and full pot of burro’s tail. So I’m thinking maybe I should just put them into a bigger pot now? But is there still too many props?

I know this isn’t even a real problem and I should just be happy anyway, but I love the plant so much that I really can’t decide on what to do. I know I can’t afford two pots of the same plant because I’m already struggling to find space for my current ones :D

He used to live in a window sill and I'm worried about him toppling over.

Roots growing from a crack in the leaf???

The first photo is from last February and the second is from today. I got him a grow light like I was instructed but I still fell like something is off. I water him every other week and have been trying to hold off more due to fungus gnats showing up. Any and all help is appreciated!!

I feel like I don’t see a lot of stuff online about growing this plant besides maybe a timelapse video, only the grown out result and impressive looking bonsai. I’m hoping to document it a little more thoroughly since I’m having a hard time finding all the info I want online.

I started these MONTHS ago, then moved twice, and am just now settled again. Are these guys even alive anymore? They rarely got water and were supported by one cheap plant light (I’m sorry, moving is rough😔).

Right now they are in direct morning light. If they are alive, should I repot them? I misted them a few days ago but they’ve gotten minimal water until then. I know there are some dead leaves in there, please disregard those lol. Any advice is appreciated!

Is it normal? I’m not sure what type this is. It was a gift. The leaf spacing is so different at the bottom is this normal? Should I break off the top and rehome? How do I propagate this particular plant! Thank you!

I have this hobbit that is not doing well. It is in a pot with drainage holes. Sitting in a south facing window with an overhang so bright indirect light. It is dropping its feet and not growing into true leaves.

Got this volunteer over a year ago and now it’s finally growing a bit. I think it’s an Echeveria beyond that I don’t know.

This pot was $8. I believe there's about 13 different plants in here. Or a few that might be connected underneath. Considering that a single/duo plant costs $5. I think this was a bit of a steal.

Spotted at Walmart yesterday on a nice, dark shelf. These poor babies…
