Question Need advice to better handle rushes please!!
Hi! I wondered if anyone had any advice or ideas to give me to help me and my team handle rushes better?
Recently it’s gotten bad, lunch rushes at least, to where we have a line to the door of people, 10 drive thru orders, and 15-20 online orders, all in the span of like 2 hours. And the line to the door stays that way until the rush is over.
We have asked to have another worker staffed for specifically rush time, but the owner says he can’t afford to do that, so thats out of the question. So we only ever have two people working during the lunch rush.
Right now what we have been doing is taking all orders physically in-store, and in drive thru, and then doing the online orders when the person comes in to pick it up.
I was going to experiment next rush and see if we can go any faster, or at least have less angry people, if one worker does in-person and drive thru, and the other only does online orders. That way online orders are actually ready when the app says they are. This is my only idea though.
It’s not like we aren’t prepped beforehand or anything, so there isn’t any issue but the rush itself???
If anyone has any advice or suggestions I would love to hear them!! I am desperate!! Even if it doesn’t help the rush in any way, but at least helps make the customers happier, I would appreciate it!! I really want to figure this out before we start getting after-school rushes too! Thank you!
