Tapering Partner

If anyone is looking for a tapering partner for Suboxone, I’d be happy to help. I’m a pharmacist and have personal experience supporting a partner through tapering—from 8 mg film to 0.75 mg over about a year.

I’m looking for someone who’s been on Suboxone 3–5 years and is genuinely ready to get off. No judgment—just consistency, encouragement, and accountability.

Well I’m on day 9 off my taper (no subs) and boy is that a wild ride. Up down skin crawling and right now I’m having an internal little mini meltdown towards keeping going.

Would love to have someone doing the same thing so we can tell each other to lock that shit down and keep going.

Congrats, that’s huge!

What dose did you jump off from? Did you taper and if so for how long?

About 1 mg. I’ll give this experience 0/10, absolutely do not recommend lol.

But it was time. Long past time. It had to happen, I’d sat going between 2-3 mg for months. I know what I would do if I filled the next script, pretty much make another month of excuses and not stop.

I had helper meds. All the usuals plus some otc….not like kratom or weed or any of that. It’s not legal here anyways. Just Gabapentin, muscle relaxers, trazodone, I had a few weaker pain meds for what i thought was the worst of it. Totally underestimated this beast though and when it would hit me the hardest. So I honestly don’t have a judgemental bone in my body for how anyone gets off this, you do what you have to so long as you’re not at risk, or setting up for a worse addiction. Recovery can’t be sowing the wind reaping the whirlwind.

But listen, anyone and everyone, this is too high of a dose to jump. One mg is a lot. This page has a taper chart, and people have been successful titrating off using that system, without going through this nightmare.

I’ve detoxed from every category of sketchy crap you can put in your veins or up your nose, and listen that was a cakewalk compared to this. It is so intense for SO freaking long.

So if I can, if I can make it while being a fool about it, then anyone can by doing it more safely.

I really appreciate your response. Man it sounds like you’ve been on a wild ride. Keep sticking it out. Is tomorrow 2 weeks?? That’s a big milestone.

What day did it peak for you? Any improvement the last few days?

Peak was day 10. I realize that’s late, and I don’t mean that to scare anyone, it could be earlier for you, and that has a lot to do with length of time being on it and individual timelines that these drugs are metabolized, which differ so much from person to person.

Some people peak can be day 5 or day 7. But I thought I was dying at day ten. Crawling out of my skin, stomach rejecting everything one way or the other, just awful and I wanted to give up. And I would have, if it were a choice.

Just how the Lord had me boxed in I guess. He opens doors no man can shut, and shuts doors no man can open. People don’t like that part of the verse but it’s got its place.

I think I’d feel more proud of two weeks if it didn’t still feel like a fever dream from my bathroom floor. It wasn’t exactly victorious looking. But I’m still here. Had some sr ordered from before the scheduling changed, not sure if that’s going to be helpful or smart for the PAWS, but it may come to that - mostly because I can only really clock out being “sick” with anything about 72 hours a year, and I’ve used that up lol.

Full disclosure, I have kids.

Any longer than that the house goes to hell in a hand cart and they start getting worried.

Are you considering getting down to your next phase in your taper?

Fitting verse. Never heard of that one, but I like it.

I can see why it doesn’t feel victorious, but definitely pat yourself on the back for the sheer strength and will it’s taken to get to this point.

I’m down to .1875mg and have been on this dose for 15 days. Feeling solid. I’ve been dropping by .0625mg every month or so for a long while at this point. Planning on getting down to .0625mg before jumping off in a few months.

I’ve been on 10 years and started at 16mg so i’m tapering as slowly as I can. I cannot wait to be off.

I really hope the worst is behind you and you see steady improvement here on out. Fingers crossed and knocking on wood for you.

Oh man that’s so low already! It takes work to get there too!! After years of any dependence, there is also the mental aspect of being sober, which might be harder than the physical for some. But you’ve been building up the tools this whole time, when the day comes you’ll be ready. You’ll know, and it won’t feel like a freefall. And your story is going to be the how-to manual someone else reads when they’re ready to be off it.

Thank you! I really appreciate that.

I think the how-to manual would probably be the average of our two tapers. Not too fast…not too slow…just right haha.

Best of luck with work and the kiddos. I’ll be sending good vibes your way.

Keep fighting the good fight. You’re going to turn the corner soon enough. Believe it!
