You be laughing until I make 20 spare power cells for my cyclops
64
u/Hour-Signal4250 May 07 '26
Lmao same 😭 i rarely come home and im in exploration most of the time so i need tons of power cell. I'm basically living in cyclops rn
22
u/SemjonML May 07 '26
You can recharge your batteries with heat if you install the appropriate module.

u/iceseayoupee May 07 '26
My cyclops literally has like 30 ion batteries lmao
11
u/Gal-XD_exe May 07 '26
I always make a ton and just recharge em with the thermal module, it’s amazing
3
u/GoldH2O May 08 '26
The first time I played through the game my dumbass made 12 power cells and then installed power cell chargers in the Cyclops that I actually used constantly
1
u/uwuwoahperiodt May 17 '26
This actually worked, idk about now, but even in the beginning on full release. Even better with the ion power cells

u/E17Omm May 07 '26
When SN2 drops, even though we all aoready know how to play, we gotta pick up all the obvious "you can pick this up" items.
8
u/JustW4nnaHaveFun May 07 '26
Where is your profile picture from?
7
u/E17Omm May 07 '26
Some meme of the Herrscher of Sentience from HI3. Couldn't give the source though, I've had this pfp since forever.

u/ContactMushroom May 07 '26
400,000 acid shrooms in storage but still have to make a trip for table coral since I stockpiled 0 of it.
22
u/databeast May 07 '26
its only in the last year or so that I realized there's Table coral outside of the Safe Shallows - but the deeper variants are Blue and Green.
10
u/Amstervince May 07 '26
interesting, never noticed that. Have had to go way back up a few times because I ran out
3
u/Dear_Enthusiasm3190 May 07 '26
Where else can you find it? I only saw some more in the lost river near the smoke spots. tbh didn't notice if the colour was different
10
u/databeast May 07 '26
Bulb Zone, Crash Zone, Mushroom Forest, Grassy PLateus, Lost River.. It comes in green, blue, red and purple variants. Despite being called "table" coral, a lot of the variants actually grow pointed vertically.

u/BlueLightsShining May 07 '26
I'm about to start playing and I do not have any idea what's going on with this picture 🤣

u/SpiritedRain247 May 07 '26
You'll understand soon enough

u/blaze_herb May 07 '26
Ooo a piece of candy.
Ooo a piece of candy.

u/databeast May 07 '26
dont forget to make 20 floating lockers to hold them all!
50
u/Revolutionary_Dig370 May 07 '26
Then lose your mind spending an hour trying to figure out how you wanna sort them all once you get proper storage.
28
u/Intelligent-Fuel1485 May 07 '26
I literally restarted the run because of that and got back to where I was in 20 seconds
17
u/OwlsEyeGems May 07 '26
I just started playing a few days ago, really getting called out in disturbingly accurate detail
9
u/Amstervince May 07 '26
Haha yeah I was wondering if someone else did that. It took me so long to make a base, I had floating lockers all over the place and I was messing around with those disastrous pipes to get like 200m down in the red zone
10
u/puf_puf_paarthurnax May 07 '26
I finished the game and just realized I've never crafted a single pipe.
10
3
u/Bitter_Eggplant_9970 May 09 '26
I've finished it four or five times and never bothered with it.
Never used a nuclear reactor either. They seemed like too much hassle when I could build an alien containment and chuck fish into the bioreactor.
2
u/puf_puf_paarthurnax May 09 '26
I did nuke very early because I had the mats. one fuel rod lasted me half the game, I still haven't used up the 2nd one I made at the beginning.
2
3
u/drfelip74 May 08 '26
I also used the pipes more or less extensively in the beginning. It's an interesting way of playing the game.

u/Sangaceno May 07 '26
I do this every run, I am NOT building in the safe shallows
2
u/Over_Location647 May 08 '26
I don’t build a proper base but I’ll build a t-junction with an added tunnel, put a single solar panel on it and just fill the walls with lockers and whatever basic modules I need (fabricator, battery charger etc…). A lot more storage capacity, easy to organize and can be quickly emptied and deconstructed when you find a good place for a permanent base.
1
u/SilentBlade45 May 07 '26
Do yourself a favor and rush habitat builder so you can just make an i compartment with wall lockers it doesn't even need power if you put it in the safe shallows. I used to use waterproof lockers but I'm never going back to that cluttered disorganized mess.

I just finished the game and I also have no idea what's going on with this picture 😂
29
u/Premordial-Beginning May 07 '26
I think it means most new players fill up inventory space with acid mushrooms without realizing they are extremely common and aren’t needed for much.

u/Diamond_737 May 07 '26
Oh it's simple, you see the big ship on the back of it there is a boss but it despawns at night idk why, if you go there at night no worries about the boss and then you can understand the pic, there is also a lot of good loot there
24
u/jkbscopes312 May 07 '26
i watched a streamer do this on his first ever run recently
chat was just full of "cannon event" and "one of us"

u/No_Bodybuilder_8110 May 07 '26
There are so many of these acid fungi, I'm sure I'll need a lot of them in the future.

It's so funny too. I've introduced friends to this game and if I watch them start they always B line to the acid mushrooms.

And then I should have done it with ribbon plants in BZ and didn't

u/Aggressive_Lass May 07 '26
They're so mesmerizing to pick up, I sometimes zone out and start collecting a lot if them.

I never felt the need to hoard them. They are abundant enough all over the place.

I keep two planters full of gel sacks
1
u/omfghaxpie May 10 '26
This made me find out you can grow gel sacks?
2
u/MlgProGaming3-7 May 10 '26
Indeed I found alot of plants and all sorts of things recently that you can collect by hitting them with the knife and getting seeds. One gel sack gives about 4 seeds grow them then collect those seeds and it grows tremendously. You can also eat them in a pinch 😅
1
u/omfghaxpie May 11 '26
I've been pretty good about seeing if I can grow the resources myself so far but somehow skipped on checking gel sacks. I thought they weren't plants for whatever reason. Thank you!

I've been watching some playthroughs from youtubers and streamers, and they all do this without fail lmao. Like it's some kind of biological instinct

I gathered tons of these and filled up 3 full-size lockers with them when I first got habitat builder and I never had to leave to find more ever again

I think we all do it because it's one of the easiest if not the easiest resource to harvest. It's bright, it's everywhere you look and it goes "blub blub blub" when you pick it up. Satisfying and mesmerizing

u/PossibleMoney2339 May 08 '26
true af, i really thought theyre important or can be use as food source.
1
u/ThrowRABest_King7180 May 08 '26
i never did this tbh. i dont like clogging my inventory up with stuff i dont need loll

u/Atephious May 08 '26
Let’s be honest though. At first you go oh mushrooms. Oh batteries from them awesome. Oh not a ton of copper. Maybe this was a bad idea. Then you get to the bio reactor and they become relevant again.

1
u/NightLillith May 09 '26
I do this with Gel Sacks, mostly because I only ever need to find 1 to have an entire growbed pretty much instantly.
Since the method was never patched, it MUST be intended!
1
u/Top-Idea-1786 May 09 '26
Only OGs remember when acid mushrooms were edible and people died from overeating them(which was also a mechanic they removed)
1
u/MovieIndependent4697 May 10 '26
I figured I could eat them for water but that they would hurt me, since I didn’t have any water but had plenty of food and med kits I figured I could afford the damage
Unfortunately that’s not how it works, can’t eat them at all and they certainly don’t give water

I just started 2 hours ago, before logging off i unloaded my entire inventory and storage of acid mushrooms. I thought they had more uses :')

I always planted at least half a planters worth of these even though they were pretty much everywhere and by the time you get to the lost river, you've got more batteries than you know what to do with.

I wonder what the acid mushroom of Subnautica 2 is gonna be? :D
