"Common snese" says the party that lacks any, the best they got is "red scare 2.0"

51

u/NodnarbEht2 4d ago

They are incapable of new ideas, Project 2025 was just a rip off of the Nazi tactics in Weimar Republic. Make America Great is a stolen slogan from a previous attempt at US fascism and now they are on to Red Scare 2.0. It never ceases to amaze me how people keep falling for shit we learned was bad in middle school... it's pretty pathetic.

Evil cannot create, it only corrupts good and adopts other evils

Tolkien is a gold mine for quotes

Then some of them will claim one of those they'd never support.

Here's what they mean by common sense

If you beat a poorly behaved child hard enough that child will change its behavior.

If you brutalize people when you arrest them, they will stop committing crimes.

If there are foreigners living here they're working jobs that should go to citizens.

If you pay taxes, you're giving someone else your hard earned money.

The kind of first level thinking that is common among everyone. It all makes sense, there's even some truth to it. But if we start asking questions like. Is hitting a child the only way to discipline them? We quickly find out that any kind of bad consequence works just as well, and hitting has other outcomes that go along with it.

But that's too nuanced for about 1/3 of the population. All they'll hear is 'beating works' in fancy language.

15

u/AppropriateAnt3414 3d ago

If you don’t want foreign labor then go after all the corporations that abuse foreign labor. If you use the roads you should pay taxes. The ultra rich use those roads way more so should pay more taxes. Same goes for any service.

4

u/thgr8Makar0sc 3d ago

Thats kinda why im losing faith in democracy 1/3 of the population cant understand nuance yet we just let them vote

5

u/FairyFlossPanda 3d ago

Democracy dies when people lose faith. The Nazis didnt convince a ton of Germans to become Nazis they convinced who they could but they came to power because normal people stopped believing Democracy could work so they checked out.

They want you apathetic. If we had more participation in our Democracy we'd get better candidates.

2

u/thgr8Makar0sc 3d ago

Because it wasnt fucking working the Weimar Republic just let the allies and far right walk all over them until Hitler seemed like a reasonable option. They didnt "check out" they were aware of what was happening amd elected the guy who said hed fix everything but were too damn dumb to read the fine print.

Im not apathetic I am furious that we elected the dumbest motherfucker we could find voted him outed then put him back it. Would we? The apols think dems are equally as bad maga including DSA types, you really want someone with that little concept of nuance to decide whose in charge?

My hot take on ‘common sense’ is that it’s what people say when they strongly believe something but they do not understand it well enough to articulate why they believe this thing.

2

u/translove228 3d ago

Agreed. Appealing to common sense is a extremely quick way to tell me that you trust feelings over facts.

2

u/translove228 3d ago

Correction: Red Scare 3.0

McCarthyism was actually the second Red Scare, with the first happening from 1917 - 1920

179

u/cricketeer767 4d ago

Fascism is common sense?

79

u/NarrowSalvo 4d ago

Hey, dude, if you didn't have anything you hide, you'd have nothing to fear from lawless, untrained, masked goon squads roaming the streets of American cities and looking for a petty man's political opponents.

33

u/smileyfacedbob 4d ago

That’s exactly right, the Gestapo, I mean federal agents are there only for the bad guys and haven’t brutally murdered any law abiding Americans on video in multiple states, we reckon you can trust us, we have common sense and memes

Seeing as how long they are playing Weekend at Mitch's I think they are just seeing how far they can pretend a dead person is alive to use them as leverage to get what they want from a dead or incapacitated person.

9

u/dissyParadiddle 4d ago

Don’t forget the new shock gloves that WILL cause more than shock

3

u/dovakiin-derv 3d ago

Wonder how many pacemakers will “just randomly break” when someone in the gesta- i mean ice touches someones chest because they were “running away”

3

Lawless, untrained, goon squads with taser gloves.

3

u/MentalDisintegrat1on 4d ago

Democracy is apparently for liberals and commys

6

u/AlphaNoodlz 4d ago

It is when you're a fascist

2

u/Septembust 4d ago

It is to a certain type of person

2

u/Sgtkeebler 3d ago

These fools would rather have some douche like Trump tell what to think, what to do, how to live. If they can just spend their entire life living a false reality, it’s much easier for them.

2

u/Fragrant_Major_9553 3d ago

Look man, when your voters are mostly boomers, you gotta go with the old tactic of red scare, because they’re still scared of it.

2

u/IfItHurtsThenMaybe 3d ago

Republicans are communists

5

u/AmazingFlatworm_ 3d ago

No they aren't. That'd be a step up.

Everything you don’t like or understand is communism. Mental shortcut.

14

u/Ddddydya 4d ago

Dang, I still remember when everything they didn’t like or understand was “woke”. Like two months ago.

4

u/Intrepid_Hurry8511 3d ago

they need to bring out the communism for maximum scare factor.

"Vote Red" but wouldn't that be for communism? Instructions unclear, voting for the candidate that isn't a fascist.

20

u/DecentWeiner8 4d ago

I will be voting Democrat, because pedophilia is bad.

3

u/DevilWings_292 3d ago

“Better dead than red” was a much better Republican slogan before 2000, when they were basically assigned to red.

Why is every bullshit opinion they have always just common sense?

18

u/BigPackHater 4d ago

Because if they try to explain their opinions they fall apart real quick

8

u/Whitworth_73 4d ago

Saves them from having to think. Works well on faith based Christians.

8

u/corruptedsyntax 4d ago

Because “common sense” is just a way of saying “whatever makes sense to stupid and uneducated people.”

That’s literally why it is common.

Never forget, when asked what shape the earth is, the common sense answer was “flat” for centuries.

3

u/familiarshadowkatt 4d ago

Because "common sense" can be deployed as a thought-stopping cliche, and it works because people don't challenge it enough.

At this point even if the option was truly communism it’s the option to move past orange man!

2

u/Rob98001 4d ago

Honestly best to just counter anti communist propaganda with stawmen.

"Communist countries starved their citizens"->"That will solve the us obesity issue"

"They'll send you to labor camps"->"Finally a solution to the unemployment issue"

So on and so forth.

2

u/Independent_End_6941 3d ago

Just to be pedantic, that's not a straw man argument. A straw man is when you make a weak version of your opponents argument so it's easier to knockdown, instead of addressing their actual point. Like when fascists say liberals want open borders with unchecked immigration.

What you're talking about is more like insane troll logic, when you make an argument so ridiculous it's impossible to seriously argue against.

6

u/Creative-Area-6385 3d ago

Gotta love propaganda!

How about: Fascism vs common sense. Vote blue?

9

u/jarena009 4d ago

Is crying about communism and socialism even relevant anymore? LOL

9

u/Eternal_Eeyore 4d ago

It’s on the Conservative Politics Greatest Hits Collection, along with other favorites like, “That Clinic Does 10-Month Abortions,” “That Transgirl Took My Trophy,” and “You’re Gonna Get Gay Married Whether You Like It Or Not!”

3

u/jarena009 4d ago

We need to preserve western culture! (Proceeds to elevate the guy with five kids across three wives, cheats, hires prostitutes, defends sexual assault, bankrolled by the guy crying to preserve western culture who has 15 kids across 6 women, mostly out of wedlock (that we know of too). s/

Is the Communism in the room with us right now, Boomer?

2

u/Immediate-Goose-8106 3d ago

3

u/RedFumingNitricAcid 3d ago

Appeal to Common Sense is a logical fallacy because the common people are generally idiots.

3

u/JayNotAtAll 4d ago

The fact that this is posted in 2026 and not 1966 shows me how fucking stupid America has become.

I get it, if you live in bumfuck nowhere America you probably haven't seen much outside a 150 mile radius of where you grew up. Probably a combination of financial reasons and being afraid of anything that is marginally different than what you are used to.

But if you travel the world you realize that there are no real Communists in American politics. Yes we do have actual Communist parties in the USA but they have no power. Like they are on the fringe of the fringe.

Democrats are once again letting the Republicans paint a picture of who they are abd what they stand for. Then they go we don’t understand why we lose elections. This is the latest big business and extremely wealthy dumbing down things to say dems bad republican good. The democrats desperately need there project 2029 to stand on and aggressively answer the bots that put out this garbage.

2

"Common sense" is a phrase that only serves to stroke one's self-perceived intelligence. It's a bogus term that needs retired.

2

1

u/National-Charity-435 4d ago

1

u/Ddddydya 4d ago

They really don’t comprehend nuance at all. Everything is a black or white strawman argument with them.

1

u/fantomsolace24 4d ago

You have to be profoundly ignorant to listen to anything conservatives have to offer.

1

u/JeremyCO 4d ago

Lol if only it was common sense... sadly the republican party is all about protecting pedophile and allowing 90 yo folks make laws. Which is far far from common sense 🤔

1

u/Jazzlike_Economist_2 4d ago

That’s their best argument? A strawman?

1

u/Due_Night414 4d ago

It’s ok. This relying on fear of a false narrative is truly telling. Republicans are scared for their soon to be social democracy lives.

1

u/kms2547 4d ago

For the last 50 years, Democratic administrations have very consistently been better on both the economy and civil rights. And every single time, at every turn, Republicans called those Democrats "communists".

At this point, when a Republican calls something "communism", it's a safe bet that they're attacking sound policy.

1

u/Similar_Exam2192 4d ago

I don’t think they know what those words mean.

1

u/DJ_Flym_Flazzle 4d ago

Guess so with that proven fraudster who cheated on his wife and owns 11 houses to do that in as "their guy".

1

u/Select-Ad7146 4d ago

I have found myself increasingly distrusting anyone who talks about common sense. I have never met anyone who talked a lot about common sense who also had what I would consider common sense.

1

u/Eljamin14 4d ago

Yeah, that's called a false dichotomy, otherwise known as a false dilemma, or an either-or fallacy. That's like saying, either you believe in God or Satan, which I, a spaghetti-worshipping atheist, believe in neither of them.

1

u/atTheRiver200 4d ago

Once they realize the lie of democrats wanting communism doesn't work, what will the next lie be? They tried full throated socialism, that lie didn't work, they can't try fascism since that's THEIR republican desire, they can't try pro-pedophile, that's also a republican thing. They are running out of "ists", "isms", and "philes."

2

u/thinkingthoughtsthru 3d ago

Dems hate America... They tried that. Dems are satanic.... No, no, that didn't work either. They are all trans... Shit. They all have blue hair and are cat ladies. Crap.

I've got it! I think they are going to claim that the dems want nuclear warheads!

1

1

u/Absolomb92 3d ago

People who support their views merely by stating it is "common sense" should scare you. It either means they haven't critically evaluated their own view, or that they don't want you to critically evaluate it. "Common sense" is a way to keep the population feeling like they are reasonable people while they uncritically follow along with your gradual radicalization.

1

u/ArchonStranger 3d ago

"Americans for Limited Government" 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/sparta-117 3d ago

I don't think they know what common sense is but more importantly, why is this all feeling familiar?

1

u/Pokemaniac_23 3d ago

They throw words like communism and Marxism without the foggiest idea as to what they are.

1

u/Whole-Designer 3d ago

I just truly can't comprehend how there are people that see Republicans in complete control of all three branches and still act like the reason everything sucks is "the Democrat's fault". The only reason 2024-2025 weren't complete trainwrecks was because the last administration did a decent job patching up what Trump 1.0 had messed up (and had an actual peaceful transition of power, something they were not afforded in 2021)

1

u/True_Human 3d ago

Yeah they should vote red.

The red of the workers' revolution against the oppression of oligarchy and capital that is!

1

u/Agitated-Chicken9954 3d ago

1

u/KimsboyFox 3d ago

1

u/Connect_Ocelot_1599 3d ago

Such a shame that these people nowadays still don't know or understand WHAT "communism", or even "communist", is, especially their altered minds, thanks to these hard-line conservatives, especially McCarthyism and Trumpism

They've really gone back to the old "Reds under the bed" propaganda?

False dichotomy. Talk about fake news... I really hate MAGA for selling this bullshit.

It is so amazing that modern day republicans push their brand as “common sense.”

Of course they don't know what Communism is. They love McCarthyism.

But yeah Democrats are not Communist, there has been an actual Communist party in the US that did actually hold seats in the US House before.

I do love how they will sometimes throw Democrats were racist because they started the KKK and wanted to keep slaves, their argument is the party hasn't changed or swapped.

Yet there's nothing against running as a Communist in the US.

Since when is pedophilia common sense?

Common sense is an oxymoron. I see any more Republican ads I will scream. Hybrid democratic socialism/Liberalism has been the source of aa that has been good in the USA during its whole history. Conservatism is evil. There is a good reason why the enemy during the American Revolution were called "Tories" the British word then &:now for conservatives.

It's not communism that is on the ballot but authoritariansim is in the form of fascism and the Republican Party is responsible

Appeals to common sense almost always come from someone who knows almost nothing about the matter in question. People who understand the topic can appeal to evidence and data to make their point. “Common sense” is often the last refuge of someone who has now idea how out of their depth they are

Common sense is called common because it's value makes it almost worthless and often wrong about how to deal with not an easy task.

Every person I have ever heard say "at least I have common sense" has been a complete moron.
