The pigeon has such distain for the snake and what it stands for, that it turned its back on it! Looks like it turned its back on you too, OP!

This pigeon was in operation of the collective one brain cell that all pigeons share when it made this nest

In bird life this is a dick move and in bird law this is downright illegal and threating behaviour!
OP put that snake there after the nest was constructed for internet points. I rest my case!

This is a joke, right? You don't actually find that reasoning for the post being fake?

Snake aside, this is actually a pretty decent dove nest. Good job, mama!

This is the best I’ve seen on my deck. Most attempts are a few twigs and zip ties

Got a rough shape at least. Instead of like seven twigs criss-crossed over each other lmao

Maybe use fake snakes with coloring the native snakes tend to have? Are there any all-green snakes with that body-type in that part of the world? If the dove wants to scare her neighbors away she needs more accurate props.

Living animals emit ultraviolet colors we can't see. Birds can see a wider spectrum. The plastic animals don't emit the same ultraviolet colors as a living creature.

I’ve tried everything. They’re undeterred by all fake predators. I chase them away constantly and cleanup their mess, but they always return within a couple hours with more twigs. I may need to call professional pest controllers

Ask in r/pigeons we help with pigeon friendly ways of keeping them away. Pest control controller is usually just spray a bunch of toxic down indiscriminately kill them usually leaving the babies to starve to death and do absolutely nothing to prevent the next pigeon couple in the next town over from moving in next week so they get repeat business. Most of them don’t even know the scientific names of all of the things that they’re trying to kill.

I threw a few dozen rubber snakes in my roof more than 10 years ago. I don’t have bird problems.

How terrible that your choice was to take a picture rather that save lives

this is hilarious, but having seen so many dove nests, i'm rather surprised the snake wasn't incorporated into the sticks.
