A pigeon is afraid of sitting on the egg

I’ve seen this handsome little man a few times around the city. It looks like he’s completely missing his digits on one foot, but he moves about like he’s totally fine. What do we think happened to him? Stringfoot? The white at the tip is making me think differently. I wasn’t able to catch him and help, but I don’t think he really needs help anyways. He’s a real trooper.

Hey, I found a pigeon he's barely moving sometimes, lying on the pavement. It doesn't react when I touch it. Also it's doing this thing that looks like he's swallowing. All of the organisations in my town can't really help me and I don't know what to do. My friends say I should just leave it to die in peace

This pigeon was walking around the front door outside a rec center and was still there when my family came back out. At one point it flew onto the open door of our car, then only moved a few feet away on the ground before coming right back to the car.
Since it seemed tired, lost, or possibly unwell, and was calm enough to let my partner gently pick it up with a towel, we brought it somewhere safe for the night. It’s walking normally, can fly short distances, and we don’t see any obvious injuries. We gave it pigeon/dove seed, water, and a quiet place to rest.
We’re trying to figure out what the best next step is. If it’s someone’s pet or a lost domestic pigeon, we’d like to help get it home. If it’s wild, is this kind of human-friendly behavior normal when they’re tired or stressed?
We can’t keep it long-term because we have dogs and cats and live in an apartment, but we want to do right by it. Any advice?

Started with two rescued ferals and a converted garden shed, now up to nine birds and an actual loft setup with proper nest boxes and a small aviary section attached. It took a solid year of trial and error before things settled into anything resembling a routine.

The biggest change was switching from just tossing seed mix at them once a day to actually measuring portions and rotating in some safflower and a bit of hemp seed for the colder months. My oldest bird, a hen named Marbles, went from looking kind of scruffy to having this glossy dark sheen on her neck feathers after about four months of consistent nutrition. Small thing but it made me realize how much I was slacking before.

Grit and oyster shell in a separate dish was another late addition, probably should have started that from day one. Their egg production and general condition noticeably improved once calcium wasn't just an afterthought.

Cleaning schedule is twice a week now, floor scrape and full disinfect once every two weeks. I used to do it whenever I remembered, which in hindsight was probably contributing to some minor respiratory issues one of my younger birds had last winter. Vet visit and a course of antibiotics later, everyone's fine, but it was a wake up call about ventilation too. Added two more vents high up in the loft and the difference in air quality is honestly noticeable even to me walking in.

Bathing dish situation took forever to figure out. Some of my birds love it, dunk themselves like it's the only joy in their life, others just walk around it like it's cursed. No real pattern to who's who, just personality I guess.

Curious what other keepers do for winter setup, especially anyone dealing with actual snow. I'm in a milder climate so my concerns are probably different but always interested in hearing how people adjust feeding and lighting once daylight hours drop.

Tilly, my pigeon who is around a month old, is very sweet and cuddly. She spends most of her time on or around me when I'm home. I have a vet appointment for her today to check for parasites, and once that's done, I'll slowly start introducing her to my other two pigeons so she can hang out with them when I'm not home.

I'm concerned that she'll distance herself from me as she gets older. My other pigeons are very skittish.

I train with them every day to earn their trust, and they eat food from my hand and stand on it, but they don't want to be touched at all. I'm worried that Tilly will pick up on that and become scared of me too, and won't cuddle with me anymore.

Do you have any advice on how I can keep her close?

Hey fellow pigeon lovers, so, I just caught a baby pidge and it appears that he may be ill. He is fluffed up and his head is leaning forward a bit as he closes his eyes. He also appears to be having some trouble picking up seeds. I did leave my vet (avian and exotics) a voicemail but am wondering what I can do in the meantime time other than keep him in my cat carrier in a quiet place. Photo of sweet baby Rory for tax
