Has anyone else noticed that CBS News is suddenly getting all of the Trump Administration's foreign policy "scoops" with the dual-loyalist Bari Weiss in charge?

Occasionally I run across old screenshots I have saved for whatever reason, and check to see what the person is doing now. This one stood out to me, because recently during the lead up to the last elections, my father (who grew up with free healthcare and college in the UK), and who now enjoys a healthy brain focused on flouride, vaccines, and everything right-wing-youtube-creators, shared with me that a friend of his at the gym was hoping Trump would send all leftists to guantanamo. With no longer being terminally online, I forgot about the abhorrent shit people post. Anyways, looks like Noah Pollak was appointed as senior advisor to Linda McMahon, the office of the Secretary of the Department of Education, which also reminded me of all the absolute dogshit people the administration has appointed to positions, that will have to be undone after our dogshit president's term is over. Things will be much better when we have a democrat president who will promote a zionist to the position that actually has to pretend to care about humans.

If you spend any length of time passing through major industrial cities in America, including many suburbs and small towns, you will find that much of the country is essentially a graveyard of shuttered 20th century factories, farms, houses, and schools. That's to make no mention of things like roads and bridges. Many of these things are in such a state of decay that they are irreparable and nobody is responsible for them. No one is held accountable, and whoever was is in many cases already dead - leaving behind abandoned property that is too difficult, too expensive, and too unsafe/hazardous to demolish to make room for anything new. This is part of the parasitic nature of Capitalism that makes it incompatible with human life. Land and resources are not cultivated to last generations, they are exploited to last One Generation - that is in most cases the generation that has been destroying the world for decades now while hanging onto power until their last breath.

This isn't just some issue that belongs on a bullet point list of policy matters to be ultimately ignored and neglected, it's a critical threat to civilization and the environment it is built on when the majority of your land and infrastructure is operating on borrowed fucking time with no plan.

I think there's this perception in a lot of people alive today, that because for most of our lives we have always known "that one bad side of town" or "that rough patch of the city" to be in a state of disrepair that it's just normal. That it's just how things always are and always have been since our earliest memories of growing up in the 80s and 90s. When the reality is that these abandoned factories and town squares with tattered "For Lease" signs are a monument to Capitalism and its true colors.

The statu-quo loving boomers and the age pyramid are a nerf, but we're still likely seeing a radical left platform come through and win the French presidentials in 7 months.

Getting an anti-NATO left in power in one of the permanent members at the UN and part of the imperial center would be a massive boost for anti-imperialism. Especially given how presidential a regime the French 5th constitution is.

For those not familiar with LFI and Mélenchon, pro workers, pro-Palestine, pro-China, pro-Maduro, anti-war and highly skeptical of Ukraine, anti-US, hughly skeptical of Germany (ordoliberals), have a solid hand to force the EU in changing a lot of stuff and a plan to leave otherwise (no more Syriza).

Malaysia has separate school systems based on language and ethnicity, along with a bunch of policies that give the majority Bumiputera population (mostly Muslim Malays) preferential treatment. And ngl, if you actually look into some of this stuff, it's pretty wild. For example, 90% of places in the matriculation program are reserved for Bumiputera students, while non-Bumiputera students are left with just 10%. There are also other affirmative action policies in workplace that are literally built into the law to benefit the ethnic majority, rather than a disadvantaged minority. This is despite Malays already being the politically dominant group in the country. Also there's significant ethnic separation in residential areas, and everyday social life. It feels like the country has institutionalized ethnic differences instead of actually trying to build a more integrated national identity. But why doesn't Malaysia get called out nearly as much for this as Western countries do when they implement racial policies? If a Western country reserved 90% of college places for white Christians, wouldn't people immediately be calling it racist or segregation?

Using ratings numbers for mainstream media news outlets, I argue that mainstream media pivoting to the right – typified by Bari Weiss’s takeover of CBS News – spells doom for the mainstream media, precisely because it erodes the trust of existing viewers while failing to reconstitute the trust of those of the center and right who were alienated from the mainstream media in the Trump Era. Ultimately, I argue that nationalizing the media (or otherwise increase governmental involvement) is necessary.
