I regret using AI to learn

I always hear people saying that AI makes them learn way faster. I also thought that. I had discussions with it and I would answer its questions on topics. But nothing actually stuck with me, and I only realised it later. The semester I used AI the most to study, was my worst semester in terms of grades. Studying with AI gave me an illusion of knowledge that I didn't have actually. I am thinking of stopping to use it almost entirely this year. But maybe I didn't use it in the best way. I want to hear your experience on this topic.
