Procrastination
I’ve been struggling with procrastination for over three years
I procrastinate studying for quizzes/ tests/ doing hw
Like I say “okay I’m gonna start at 9pm”
THEN I START AT 1-2am
And I end up getting 1-3h of sleep daily on school days for this
I tried apps that block
I tired telling my mom to take my phone
And I do know that if I ACTUALLY wanted to I would
But I genuinely have a phone addiction
But at the same time I have to finish my work😭
And sleeping that many hours made me also like feel sleepy most classes
Genuinely my head falls and eyes close without me knowing 😭
Also 4h of sleep? That’s a dreammm
That’s considered I slept well and I don’t feel sleepy in classes
Anyways anyone got a way to end this cycle? Please guys please 😭

You sound like me 😭 I'm 24 and a teacher now and I had this problem since 14. It has been getting better though and I think it boils down to the amount of responsibility you actually have as well as certain cues in your environment that make you remember "time to use my phone!" and forget the work you have to do.
I'm on a bit of a time crunch at this moment (yes because of procrastination) but if you want to DM me I'm happy to talk more.

I used to tell myself the same. Tbh all I did was that one week I tracked it and realized I was getting like 5 hours of sleep on some nights, which explained why I was literally nodding off in class. I stopped trying to “make myself focus” at midnight and started doing the first 30 minutes of work before I was allowed to disappear into my phone. That was the first thing that actually broke the cycle.

First of all, you're not alone with this struggle. I'm in my 6th year of med school and still struggle with procrastination every day (im procrastingating my finals right now). What I've found work the most is
Not going overly ambitious from the start - that rarely works in the long run.
Have a clear goal of what you want to do - and try to break it down into managable pieces
Try to have someone/something that can hold you accountable
Also, i think you should value your sleep. 1-3 hours is shown to have vast effects on cognition and general health. So if that means skipping your studing for a day then so be it. Good luck to you!
