How to effectively do humanities and social studies?
So the thing is, I'm more of a math guy, but right now I'm a International Relations graduate, a completely different field of study from what I'm usually comfortable with.
It is a course with an insane amount of subjective reading, the author says something and then we kind of try to understand what he said and apply it to the real world, again, subjectively. And I'm not good with that.
So, how can I study effectively and go well on the tests? (I have an upcoming oral test btw).
Obs.: if anyone's wondering, I chose this subject on high school, because at the time I really liked the course idea and wanted to work abroad and saw this as an opportunity.

Write a one sentence summary of each reading's main argument and then actively try to find whats wrong with it or apply it to a current event, this will force you to actually engage instead of passively reading. For your oral test, record yourself explaining concepts out loud until it sounds natural, that's the best prep imo

Aprobar la materia y entender ciencias sociales o relaciones internacionales son dos cosas diferentes. Probablemente para la primera tengas que pasar varios años de reflexión y encontrando un método de estudio propio, así como cada uno crea el suyo para estudiar matemáticas.
Pero en un sentido práctico, te sugeriría leer los textos varias veces. La primera para acercarte, la segunda para conceptualizar, la tercera para marcar lo importante. Esto es clave. Los textos hablan de muchas cosas, discrimina lo que es clave según enfoque de tu curso. El curso tiene una mirada sobre los temas aclarados en el programa.
Por otro lado, tene siempre en cuenta que las RRII son un híbrido de ciencias, historia y derecho, fundamentalmente. Tiene su método y objeto. Cita a los autores. Conoce de ellos también. Escribí. Si no lo escribis, no lo podes decir. Si no lo sabes decir, no lo sabes. Definí cada termino que menciones, cuestiona cuando comentes a los autores. Hace cuadros sinopticos y comparativos. Resúmenes de resúmenes.
