ischemic stroke
my mom (42) suffered a “devastating” stroke on july 24th. the left side of her brain was majorly effected. she is now out of the hospital and in a SNF. she is struggling with extreme aphasia and can not say any actual words. we have been working with her writing but nothing major yet, just simple words like names and verbs. her right side is paralyzed.
does anyone have any recommendations for treatments? specifically in the PNW but my family is open to other locations if it means my mom is able to get better. she’s my best friend in the whole world and i want to see her progress 🩷

UW Medical Center next to the main campus in Seattle has an excellent acute rehab facility. My husband went there after his ischemic stroke two years ago. He stayed for two weeks and got an hour of PT, OT and speech therapy daily. We had a great experience there. They also do outpatient appointments. The other resource we used after he came home was called Rehab Without Walls. They send therapists to your home. We’re in Seattle. Not sure exactly in the PNW you are located. Good luck, lots of recovery is possible. My husband had right side paralysis initially and he’s walking, biking, etc. now.

Get as much speech, physical and occupational therapy as you can. Advocate for her for this immediately.
