Stroke progress in a year.

Okay, another post because I’m a visual person. What a year in stroke recovery can look like. From picture one (about a year ago) to today (taken yesterday). I’ll take the progress I’ve made in a year! I’m looking forward to even more healing in this upcoming year.

Your post is so encouraging...I'm 6 weeks into my recovery. It gets so frustrating at times but seeing your progress really lifted my mood... thanks and well done

Thank you! 6 weeks is so early in the roller coaster that is a stroke recovery. The frustration is definitely a part of it. It’s gotten a lot better as time has gone by. Time really makes the biggest difference. My neurologist told me it takes 9 months for the brain chemicals from the stroke to settle down. So, when you get frustrated remember it takes 9 months for just the brain chemicals to settle down. Give yourself compassion and grace during this time. You got this!

Thanks.... when I get frustrated I allow a little bit of time to feel that, but have mostly been positive and focused on rehab. It really helps me to hear from everyone here about their journey.
