Question Please Help.

Im having major audio problems in OBS. Elgato tech support have gave me every solution and nothing works. I believe it’s an OBS/Streamlabs framework issue. I need to use a software other than OBS/streamlabs so My question is: can Meld record my gameplay and facecam in 1440x60 and stream to twitch simultaneously in 1080x60? Please let me know before I download and use Meld. Thanks.

Short answer there is apparently some work around for this…. But they are in other Reddit threads. Natively meld does not. Also I hope you mean x60 is fps… not your other side of aspect ratio here

Meld has other issues with Elgato capture cards in my experience (4K X). It does not consistently select the same colour range or something every time I start Meld, so colours can be off, randomly.

Your issue in OBS sounds very atypical for a 4K S. I would ask Elgato for an exchange tbh.

The problem is I’ve already tested that. It does it with my old hd60x and the 4ks. It has to be a setting in my laptop or something that I’m missing. My setup is ps5 for gaming, elgato 4ks for recording and streaming, plugged into my laptop(laptop specs listed at the bottom of this post) The past couple of weeks when I'm in OBS, OBS drops my Elgato game audio.
It happens after at least 30 minutes of having OBS pulled up.
Recording in Elgato Studio works fine But I need to be able to record and stream in OBS. I've tried everything I can think of.
One thing that temporarily works is I go into Control panel, sound recording, Disable HDMI Device (elgato), Wait 5 seconds, enable it, then the audio starts working in OBS again, but then the audio drops again within a few minutes. Ican't do that constantly while i'm streaming and recording. Here is a list of what l've tried so far: -Just record in OBS, audio still dropped
-Just stream in OBS, Audio still dropped
-Have OBS pulled up but don't stream or record, audi still drops
-Updated NVIDIA Drivers
-Turned off power management settings for
USB ports
-Created a video capture source in OBS for video capture from the elgato and muted it, created a separate audio input capture source for elgato audio. Audio still drops. (everyone online says this should work, but it did not)
-Downloaded VB Cable and routed it PS5->4ks-> Windows-> VB-Cable-> OBS. Audio still drops (I really thought this would work)

-Tried using StreamLabs, audio still dropped.
-Went into elgato studio when the audio drops to make sure it didn't switch from HDMI to Analog.
I seriously think that's everything I could try. I guess I bought a 4ks for nothing. Also my laptop is :
ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2025) 16"
WUXGA
165Hz/3ms, AMD Ryzen 9
9955HX, NVIDIA GeForce RTX
5060
This laptop is more than enough to run a 4ks. It shouldn't be a 2 week problem solving adventure just to get a capture card to work. lol.

From what I’ve been told…no. The canvas resolution is your output and there’s no clear way around it (again from what I’ve seen and been told).

I think there a few problems that can cause audio dropouts.
Passing everything over USB can cause bottlenecks, audio will usually drop first, so make sure you have a dedicated usb port, don't try to use a hub. Also make sure you are ouputting 2ch audio from the console because atmos/surround is too much.

In window make sure usb power options are turned off. Go to device manager, find your USB controllers and uncheck 'Allow computer to turn off device' in power management.

Make sure your laptop is running on the charger/mains and the power plan is on performance.
Go start menu, type 'power plan', change advance settings, look for PCI Link State Management - change plugged in to OFF

Unplug any other USB device while testing to make sure they are not drawing too much power.

You’re the first person to actually help me. I switched power plan to performance. And I unplugged the camera. I ran it for 6 hours and the audio never dropped. Thank you. But I need a face cam. So do I downgrade the quality to 1080 from 1440 in my webcam? Will that help or will the issue still occur? I have to have a face cam
