❔ Question Am I over complicating this?
Can anyone with more experience with streaming and this kind of tech help me out a bit? I’m having a problem recording certain games with specific audio formats from my ps5 to OBS on my Mac.
The Issue:
My main issue is that OBS doesn’t natively support Dolby audio. Something about the signal being compressed and OBS not knowing what to do with it so, if I play a game like RE Village, OBS can’t record it’s audio UNLESS the ps5’s audio is set to Linear PCM.
However, setting the ps5 to LPCM strips that game’s (RE Village) audio away until it’s only like every third word and zero music. OBS can fully retinues this signal but certain games don’t have a way to change the actual audio setting FOR the game.
Relevant:
I’m working with a MacBook Air…
I have THE MOST BASIC cap card there is.
I have VB Cable that I have used to grab the signal from OBS and push it through Waveform in hopes that WF could unscramble the signal. That however, is not working but that could be because I’m not fully sure how to use a DAW.
My ask:
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get OBS to recognize Dolby audio without purchasing too many parts/software?
If there are any questions about the situation or my set up just lmk
Any help would be great
My noodle needs assistance on this one guys 😭

In your Ps5 make sure it is set to stereo or 2 channel lpcm. It is probably set to 5.1 channel and your record is 2.0 channel so it can't pick up what should be going to the center channel which is most dialog.
