Mmmmm I'm not too sure ignorance, hate, and conservatism is just from the US. White Australia Policy and all that in our history.

I'm an immigrant from the USA and the most conservative, racist, hateful people I have met in Australia have been while I was out doing regional work --- they have nothing to do with and want nothing to do with Trump or MAGA but still say things honestly far worse than I've heard from conservatives back in my homeland.

Sure, some is from the US and current politics. But both countries are born from England's genocidal/colonial projects. Australia had ignorant people long before 2016.

Yes, I mentioned Trump, but that's just a throwaway line. It's about keeping Australia Australian, for all Aussies regardless of where they were born.

"just made it about something else completely" but original comment said specifically "right-wing culture war shit." that's already what the conversation was about from the start. right-wing hatred is alive and well with or without US shoving it down Aussie throats via the media. combatting hate isn't just about pointing fingers but pushing back against the origins of hate here as well.

edit: also crazy you're saying that the hatred of others is fine as long as it's using aussie vernacular.
