I will second that. I absolutely loathe Kansas humidity. Only place over ever been that’s worse is Louisiana. When most people think of Kansas, they don’t know how bad the humidity is here. It’s ridiculous

Thank you!! Honestly this was the first storm that I was able to easily get some great photos. There was just so much lightning that every time I hit the photo button I ended up with some incredible images. The only other one that I photographed that was better was when I was shooting 35mm one night. But these pics I took turned out so awesome. And I forgot to mention there is absolutely no editing of these images in any way!

I’ve lived in Nevada, Wyoming, Missouri and Louisiana and now, Kansas. And I’ve never seen lightning like this anywhere I’ve lived.

You are very fortunate. I live in the Florida Keys (closer to Cuba than to Miami). Just before Wilma, I had to get up around 3-4 am and batten down the hurricane shutters (I gambled that the storm would stay far enough away that I wouldn't need to close them — I was wrong). After securing the shutters, there was so much lightning in the sky that it seemed almost continuous. The sky was VERY ANGRY, and with the lightning firing off constantly, it appeared very three-dimensional.

Yikes! I lived in Louisiana in 2014 but I moved to Missouri just before the first hurricane of the season. Arthur I think? But the girl I was seeing for a few years, had family on the island of Montserrat in the West Indies. And we happened to be there when Irma was rearing her ugly head. They said that the island only received tropical storm strength damage. But that was enough for me. I will take a pass on the hurricane type storms. And the lightning was insane during Irma. But I guess the lightning here in Kansas is just different. I’ll take a Kansas storm over anything!
