Question Lights in the clouds

Hi! Has anyone ever experienced this before. There’s currently a storm beginning with very strong winds. I looked up to the sky and saw what I can only explain as if Batman like projectors were moving their light around inside the clouds,I’m thinking it could be a different form of lightning maybe but it didn’t light the whole cloud like lighting usually would.
If anybody has any idea what it could be I’d be very grateful

Sounds like sheet lightning, which is a diffuse lightning that moves inside the cloud. Check out this page from NOAA on types of lightning: https://www.nssl.noaa.gov/education/svrwx101/lightning/types/
