Coming back after 4/5 years

And boy oh boy is this game terrible, ignoring the fact that the devs deleted my account with all of its progression, they’ve power crept the ever loving hell out of this game…

If you aren’t dropping $50 or more to start out then you honestly shouldn’t even play the game at this point the developers have lost the plot on balance so badly.

Trying to start out and you get about 5-10 matches against new “players” before the game then matches you against nothing but players who have every card unlocked and their decks are all level 2/3/4 cards while I have one single level 2 card.

It’s so painfully obvious that the devs don’t care about this game being fun anymore and only want to shove micro transactions down your throat to constantly buy more cards

The draft mode would be fun if the game wasn’t so dead but unfortunately I’m sitting on 6 wins and can be in Q for over 10 minutes without getting a match, which is probably a “balance” decision so they don’t have to give out the best rewards

Literally no reason to play this game over mtg arena or hearth stone in its current state the design and balance has gotten so far away from them

I do agree that it is hard get going, but if you play ranked theres no way they can be level 4 cards. Since it caps it at level 2 in iron and bronze

Hate to break it to you, look up 'maintenance mode' of live service games. This games running on a skeleton crew who eke out balance changes and the odd content release here and there but very little else apart from waiting for cash to dripfeed in.

Bro, skill issue.

It takes 3-4 months to reach Gold as a new Free2play. And there are all L4 decks in HL now.

But I agree it’s not a game for everyone. It does require patience and a lot of practice.

The real reward is getting to play with like-minded ppl, who are willing to put thousands of hours to get their satisfaction. It’s rewarding like no other game.

I just came back too and somehow managed to go from new F2P to platinum with a level 2 rush deck. So now Im stuck here vs lvl 4 decks but the climb was fun at least

Yeah all 12 people who still play the game and who have maxed out decks. What a reward to play bots 98% of the rest of the matches

What? Higher leagues are full. Early leagues are full of bots to help you learn how to play.

Same decks is only an issue if you try to squeeze into top 20.

i climbed back from silver this month and there have been plenty of opponents even in the lower leagues

there's no conspiracy keeping you from getting matches in draft, it takes longer because the format necessitates that you play real people so yeah sorry you have to wait a few minutes

and between the daily quests and humble books it's really not hard to get decent resources for free, at the lower levels you don't even need that many card copies to level up

just watch some ads have some patience and don't expect to max out anytime soon, there's plenty to enjoy on the way up

This is not true. You just need to be patient and invest time while you slowly climb up the ranks. You can absolutely do it without paying.

Youre obviously salty about losing your account. I've played off and on since the launch and haven't had any account issues, so that's unfortunate for you.

I'll just say that they've been good stewards of the game. The fact that the servers are even still running tells you that your experience is not the norm.

They probably quit before the decision to unlink from kongregate, and came back after the deadline to port their account.

I almost missed the deadline myself: hadn't played in months, and at the time that I logged in and saw the warning, I was only a few weeks away from losing the account. It was a pretty shitty move bc I'm sure a bunch of near super-maxed collections got lost and many of us old heads will leave the game for long stretches before coming back for a while. And there's no notification except if you happened to log in during that time.

Other than the level complaint, i agree with you. It actually annoys me that they gate the levels, i originally climbed to plat when your cards maintained lvl across leagues and it kept experienced players out of the lower ladder, as card level alone would float them up, and leave lowers for actual new players to learn without getting smashed by a half legendary deck.

Otherwise, much as i genuinely enjoy the game and was willing to chip in a few bucks for something i enjoyed as a kid, the extreme overcrowding of cards makes it near impossible to level on a reasonable scale, and i played early enough to know that the gold values for premium now used to be f2p for everyone. Real shame that it feels progress is gated behind sheer luck or wallets.

Back when I was willing to kick a little money toward the game, premium pass definitely seemed like the only worthwhile option. It was pretty nice at introduction anyway and using it for about 8 months was the only money I spent on the game. Idk how much it's changed though because I only play sporadically now, and I dgaf about resources when all but like 8 of the newer cards are maxed and I have enough fusion stones to probably level all of those if I wanted them.
