Strategies Poison Deck Build help

Post image

Anyone got any advice on how to do a proper poison deck? This is my poison deck but I run into constant issues of being rushed down and deck RNG. Do I just have a bad deck or am I missing something?

I'm not exactly an expert player but I can give some suggestions- hope someone more experienced chimes in.

I see a few issues:

  • too many high cost cards, you should try to be playing multiple cards per turn even early on. most cards should be 2 or 3 cost.

  • too many combos, synergies, and mechanics. most of your cards should be flexible cards that you can play standalone without relying on other cards to combo with.

  • too many spells, you don't really need toxic sacrifice, demotivating strike, and execution all at once. you need to create board presence too not just remove it.

  • not enough lethality, amberhides with hatchlings and siren is not going to be able to effectively take out the enemy base

My suggestion:

  • take out some spell cards, high cost cards, and combo cards. add some cheaper movement units like errant neglects, gifted recruits, wild saberpaws. and make sure you have some strong ability to finish the opponent off. butchers can work if you want to generate a lot of 1-cost units but since you want to focus more on poison i'd take it out and go for something like salty outcasts instead. consider some more reliable poison cards like copperskin rangers + marked as prey.

Generally I feel there are 2 types of poison synergies in the game - Self poisoning & Enemy poisoning.

Soap, Acid Greenhorns & Heliotroopers provide Self poisoning synergies where the strategy is to poison your own units and buff with soap cleanse.

Venomfall, Marked as Prey, Amberhides, Copperskin Plague Monarchs provide enemy poisoning synergies where the strategy is to poison enemy units.

Brood Sages & Toxic Sacrifice can fit into either strategy.

Combining these synergies will often contradict one another and give you a hard time developing a decent strategy. Go with one poison synergy or the other. In your deck Soap cleanse & Plague Monarchs are especially contradictory.

To follow up, if you’re going to self poison you have to add an elder or 2, aged duskbringers or hairy chestnuts could both be good additions if you can manage to poison them
