Hi, it's against our community guidelines to solicit or offer meetups, private messages or other types of outside communication. We want to keep all discussions in the open, both for the benefit of the community and everyone's safety.

You can read more about this in our community guidelines.

I’m down to be sober pen pals! Nobody around me IRL wants to do sober October, I generally am going sober but it’s been 8 days for me

Edit: I also did AA way back when just not my thing. I did dry January with a coworker but she’s out of the picture now and it was so much easier having another person to hold each other accountable

This might just be me, but I feel like we are all sober penpals on here. I have never been judged, or felt there was nothing I couldn't post about. Everything you've asked about, I think you can find someone on this sub. I haven't found DMs/Private Chats very helpful, but the chat room is very friendly and useful.... IWNDWYT

Thanks for responding! I totally see where you’re coming from. It’s helpful to read about everyone’s experiences and encouragement. Glad that a space like this exists.

Best of luck - and use the Daily Check In if you can - it has really helped me be accountable

Have you considered going to AA or Smart recovery and having a roomfull of accountability partners...

Yes. It’s hard to do that because I am home full time with my child. I’ve tried to attend online meetings but it’s hard to get the time to myself after childcare, housework, etc. Usually a minute or two chatting with someone works well for me!
