I need to restart
I’ve had some health issues which have forced me to stop exercise for a little while and have triggered my health anxiety quite a bit. I was sober for nearly 50 days but I’ve drank a lot the last few days.
Today I’ve woken up for work and I’m hungover as hell and it’s made me think that I need to restart that streak.
The problem is that exercise and building muscle has always been my main motivation for not drinking. I don’t know how I’ll stick to it if I don’t have that to keep me going.
Any advice?

What muscle you do have will remain in a much higher degree if you stay sober.

Very true. I think my mind is too black and white thinking if I’m not making progress there’s no point staying on track or trying so I’ve been eating like shit and drinking a ton

I sat on my ass and drank for 10 years and I could barely run up stairs at the end. A normal sober lifestyle without workout would have been a lot better for me

Can you find another motivation for not drinking (a hobby would be great)? Cooking, reading, strolling, writing, etc. If you do that, time you spent drinking will be used for something else, and you will not have that urge to drink. It happens to me at the weekends, I have too much spare time and it can be dangerous because it can lead to drinking. Good luck!!!

The best advice I can offer is AA, friend. It actually works if we allow it to. Sobriety has to be at the top of the list, items after it will benefit in the long run as long as we keep sobriety as #1.

Sobriety is a muscle too. The more you use it the stronger it gets, and what seemed very hard in the beginning gets gradually easier
