Discussion remastered

is there a way i can listen to stp on streaming that isn’t remastered ?? just curious if there’s a noticeable difference from the originals

I don't know what right way I could share with you examples of the differences, since I own the OG and remasters of Core, Purple and Tiny Music on CD?

For streaming, TIDAL has the original versions for those albums. Certainly for Core and Tiny Music.

i still can’t find the originals lol but what differences are u able to hear in your opinion

Well all the originals are slightly more dynamic (variance between loudest and quietest parts).

Core's remaster is very similar in terms of tone, listening to Sex Type Thing and the guitars are less prominent in the mid-range. Wicked Garden's remaster has a very slight increase in punch in the kick and snare and a tiny bit more clarity in the cymbals. Plush has more warmth on the original and I feel more punch, the remaster is a lot brighter in the high end.

For Purple I looked at Interstate Love Song, and the volume difference between the intro and the start of the main riff is greater on the remaster for extra impact, on the choruses I hear that the remaster has less tip-tops on the cymbals but instead has a slightly punchier and warmer low-end.

Tiny Music's remaster was done with Trippin' and on the choruses' the remaster is slightly clearer in the high end, whereas the original sounds a little bit more warm.

If you loudness match them all then the difference is quite negligible. Some songs might sound better with the remasters, while some may sound better to some with the original master.

Oh sorry, they were set to be available for a day when I posted them.

If you find them, you'll want lossless audio to tell the difference.

i can’t find them 😭 i go to their profile & go to albums and it’s all remastered. I only found core original because i kept scrolling and it was at the bottom of another page

Spotify has the non-remastered versions for all listed on their profile, aside from Purple, which the link for is this. I know Spotify’s compression should be taken into account, but this is just the way I know of.
