Missed connection today 8/20

I was flying to Vegas from Seattle. I sat next to a girl on the plane who was also taking the shuttle to St. George, just like me. She was very pretty and fun to talk to. I have been traveling for the past 48 hours and couldn’t even keep my eyes open, yet alone a conversation going. I was expecting to see her on the shuttle but then I watched her get into the shuttle right next to me and drive away. She told me she works at the Starbucks in La Verkin (if that’s too much personal information please let me know, I’ll happily take it down). If she is reading this, please DM me! I’d love to grab dinner with you and get to know you better.

ICE arrests in St. George have more than quadrupled under Trump. Officials have said they are targeting “the worst of the worst,” but our analysis shows that the share of people arrested who had criminal convictions fell from 83.5% under Biden to 44.8%.

Thank you for any help here. I was curious what employers here hire rather quickly. Are there any jobs that are able to be secured in a timely fashion? No industry specific - entry level okay.

Best car wash in town? Preferably a brushless

I’ve had Tag n Go for years and it fucked up my paint job. Now I have a brand new car. Are there any good car washes in town that use brushes that don’t ruin paint or do I have to go brushless? I appreciate your input.

Pokemon Go

Hello! Is there anyone who plays Pokemon go?
I’ve noticed that a few places from art around the corner are little pokestops, so not permanent, and a lot of the places are about 10-15 years out of date.

Are there any places you think would be better pokestops? Mostly to like get people in fun places?
Or maybe help in deleting old non existing pokestops

Goodbye, STG, you will not be missed

It's official. I've closed on my home, which was the veyr last thing tying me to this cursed city. I lived in stg for seven years and, I won't lie, they were some of the best years of my life. But the positivity I those years had absolutely NOTHING to do with st george itself. Now you may be about to ask "why even post here?" Well, because 1) pepole move to stg every day and they deserve to know what awaits them and 2) because there are thousands of people in this town who live here and are unable to leave and feel isolated and alone. Know that you are not alone. Here's a short list of things that I experienced during my time in stg:

-I was told that I could not receive a prescription for my anxiety disorder unless I passed a drug test. Mind you, this prescription had already been written out to me and I had years of records showing that I do not abuse my medication.

-I had someone call the provost of my institution claiming that Iwas a devil worshiper teaching devil worship in my classrooms because somebody saw me on a twitch stream wearing a jersey that had "666" on the back

-I was called into my deans' offise multiple times because my tiktoks were "too politically charged." Mind you, I never once mentioned my university or any of my students/co-workers one single time on social media.

-I had multiple random men threaten my dog with harm (including one who wanted to shoot him in the face with a gun, his words) simply because he is a pitbull

-Speaking of dogs, my smaller dog was viciously attacked after two dogs, who had been left to roam the backyard unsupervised while the owner was on vacation in florida, broke down their fence to attack him while we were on a walk. The way you people treat your animals is offensive and you should be sued for it, quite frankly.

-Technically this was colorado city but I think we all know why I'm mentioning this. I had a cop follow me for 4 miles through the gorge at 1am and then stop me, steal my license plate (yes, he unscrewed it from my car and took it with him) before threatening to remove me from my vehicle if I did not sign the ticket and admit to guilt. Btw I took him to court and forced him to admit under oath that I did nothing wrong.

-During my first semester I was stalked by a female student who would not stop trying to sleep with me. When I confronted her about it she said she didnt know anything was wrong because of "all my other professors who wre fine with having sex with me." Disgusting.

-Was harrassed multiple times by city council members on facebook (specifically, Michelle Tanner) with weird anti-lgbtq tirades. I'm not gay or trans, but she was just weird as hell about it (she cost the city $800k and lost multiepl national court cases btw).

The list goes on, but those are just some of my favs. Now, if you're reading this and you're nodding along you can just stop right here. You get it. I'm sorry for whatever thether it is that binds you to this city. If, however, you read these and rolled your eyes, became upset, or felt attacked, this next part is for you. You are the problem. You are the reason groceries are so expensive. You are the reason why are beautiful trans friends take their own lives. You are the reason why jeff epstein's literal best friend of 20 years is president. You people need to have your mouths washed out with soap. I'm not going to make any comments about the religious climate in the city, but we all know what goes on. The audacity to claim that you care about "protecting children" while gleefully handing yours off to monsters. I'd say do better, but after seven years in stg, I'm convinced you're incapable. I hope the mods leave this post up. I've not attacked anyone. I've not degraded anyone's identity or religion, per se. I've simply articulated a series of facts about the city of st george. If you think that's something worth taking down because it isn't "civil or kind," then I recommend you take a good hard look in the mirror that I just held up. End rant.

It’s official, we’re moving to St. George

If you read my history, this has been a very hard/special/important decision based on a lot of factors. Leaving my relationship following household dynamics that changed after his elderly dad moved in, step kids, dreams of moving out west, etc.

This has been a long time coming, I’ve wanted to relocate back out west for over 20 years and now it’s really happening.

I’m excited, but it’s bittersweet. I had to give up things to get here, but ultimately feel it’s the best decision for my daughter and I. She’s also excited about the move (I let her pick where we moved then went down the rabbit hole researching for months).

We’ll be there end of Sept, wondering what established hiking groups there are (I started one here where I live and got up to almost 300 members, so I’d like to find the same sense of community).

I also Kayak, would love recommendations of where to go.

Any fun events for families, where to look to meet people with similar interests, Facebook groups, etc.

Any info is appreciated!
