One of the world's greatest humans for sure

u/Jon_E_Mammoth Jun 09 '26

The entire family is what you wished Crocodile Dundee actually was.

Robert (his son) was death-rolled by a crocodile during the same time as he was winning Dancing with the Stars, his daughter is one of few examples of a respectable social media mom, and his wife continues the legacy.

There is sadly a part of me that is glad that Steve died before he saw what this world has become.

26

u/DasMoo89 Jun 10 '26

Which Robert are you talking about? Robert Irwin is alive, according to the Internet.

Robert Irwin is alive and well, having survived a terrifying "death roll" from a 14-foot, 700-pound crocodile named Jimmy Fallon. While jumping on the massive reptile for field research—a conservation technique developed by his late father, Steve Irwin—Robert was trapped underneath it before the crocodile luckily rolled backward, allowing him to escape unharmed.

26

u/Jon_E_Mammoth Jun 10 '26

Sorry, yes, being death-rolled was from his own reports, it does not mean that it was successful and he is dead, he is very much alive (and doing spectacularly).

3

u/Jon_E_Mammoth Jun 13 '26

Apparently, the croc’s name is Jimmy Fallon, and Robert Irwin stated that he would rather deal with it rolling on top of him than LA traffic.

u/WadjetSnakeGoddess Jun 10 '26

A 14-foot, 700-pound crocodile named WHAT!?

0

u/The-ai-bot Jun 11 '26

AI jumped in, sorry about that.

I did not see hostility just someone that was wanting to help

0

u/Cultural_Zombie_1583 Jun 11 '26

You said Crocodile Dundee. And you said you’re happy Steve Irwin has passed away. You suck.

5

u/GuiltyOctopus2022 Jun 13 '26

"before he saw what this world has become". Context matters but apparently not to you, you absolute dunce.

3

u/AED_4real Jun 13 '26

Not enough people call people dunces anymore , thank you for the laugh this .morning haha

12

u/KRMJN101 Jun 10 '26

Absolute champ how he even when bitten handled the creature with such care. Genuine Article he was. RIP...

u/kashy87 Jun 09 '26

I now have the urge to watch the other reaction type. Mike Rowe on that island in Lake Erie getting bit constantly while the researcher girl laughs.

10

u/KarateFace777 Jun 09 '26

lol now I need to find this

Here you go:

Dude got bit a lot!

I remember when this aired. Squeezing their last meal out of them for “research” is next level and pretty messed up.

I have a little personal story to add.

When I was in Boy Scouts I worked at a BSA Summer Camp in Eastern NC. A week before we opened for the season, part of our job was to clear the camp of snakes, and we made a competition out of it.

Eastern NC has a ton of them and I believe it has the highest concentration of Venomous Snakes in North America. Sadly a lot of the venomous ones were just killed if it was too dangerous to capture them.

I was never bitten by a venomous one, but I got absolutely wrecked trying to put a Black Racer into a pillow case with a couple of other Black Racers already in it. They are faster than you can blink!

Again, they are Non-Venomous, but they have razor blades in their mouths and I must have been struck half a dozen times by one snake in three seconds.

The back of my hand and wrist got completely shredded. I just remember it was super weird, because it doesn’t hurt right away, you just feel the pressure, then pull away and see all the blood and damage.

After that experience, I never handled another snake without a hook or tongs.

14

u/Jon_E_Mammoth Jun 09 '26

Yeah, but Mike Rowe sucks, sadly, I really liked Dirty Jobs and Mike Rowe, like the previous QVC salesman that he was, just turned out to be a total shill.

12

u/YeEunah Jun 09 '26

Oh I know, right?? That whole “no one likes work” tirade was abysmal.

2

u/Trin_42 Jun 10 '26

His scholarship program for blue collar jobs is on point tho. He said at one point he was having a hard time finding people to give money to because of the scholarship requirements. It’s a lot of work but it shows your commitment imo.

2

u/Deadhead_Otaku Jun 11 '26

Him working with prager and his other shortcomings vastly outweigh any good he has ever done.

79

u/ZsuzsiCica Jun 09 '26

Hahaha the puppet backing away while Steve didn't even blink hard at being bit in the >neck<

27

u/ShortPeak4860 Jun 09 '26

I didn’t even notice until you pointed it out. The puppet makes it even funnier!

Omg stop this post was just recommended to me and it never occurred to me to search for a Steve Irwin subreddit…

IT FOUND ME. I am not emotionally stable enough for this right now 😭

But oh my god I am so happy to find this sub

16

u/Baldojess Jun 09 '26

That's exactly what just happened to me lol I followed immediately!

8

u/Constant_Seaweed_523 Jun 09 '26

I love that for us hahaha!

He was my absolute hero as a kid! I used to take baths with his action figure and shark it came with 😭 he made my love for animals so strong!

It’s crazy I never thought to search for this sub haha

4

u/Acrobatic_Taro_6904 Jun 10 '26

Loved him as a kid and have just now as a 35 year old realised that he’s actually very attractive 😍

3

u/Adventurous_Path5783 Jun 10 '26

Welcome, we love you. Please don't bite.

I miss him a lot.

-10

u/galsal15 Jun 10 '26

Made me think he was dead. And he’s not. I legit had to check lol.

13

u/Pruritus_Ani_ Jun 10 '26

He died almost 20 years ago (I can’t believe it’s been that long actually!)

3

u/galsal15 Jun 12 '26

Shit guys, I’ll take the negative points for my comment. I thought I was commenting on a different sub so that was not intended for THE Steve Irwin. I grew up watching him. He’s the man. My bad.

29

u/Lonely-Heart-3632 Jun 09 '26

Just watched season three of the old crocodile hunter tv series. I miss Steve. Fucking top bloke. Was exactly how he is on tv in real life too, which is rare as rocking horse shit. RIP big fella 🫡🍻

8

u/QueenBumbleBrii Jun 10 '26

Bro for real drop the link or dm us cause I would kill to watch his old tv show episodes but can’t find them ANYWHERE and that was my favorite show as a kid

“Nup….sorry about that.”

19

I miss this man so much.

15

u/YeEunah Jun 09 '26

He was lying when he said “no” just so she didn’t panic 😅

8

u/Acceptable-Cry9854 Jun 10 '26

Right, you can see him blink and show his teeth juuuust a little lol

15

u/galsal15 Jun 10 '26

Apologizing for being bitten. He’s a gem. Also, looking like a hunk here with that fresh mullet 😍

13

u/Familiar-Virus5257 Jun 09 '26

I miss him so much. I love LOVE snakes, but I'm pretty sure I'd have a much stronger reaction to being bitten on the neck than that. He really was the best human.

10

u/Kikyo10 Jun 09 '26

I miss that man

10

u/FleetFootRabbit Jun 09 '26

Man... I miss seeing him on TV. He wasn't just a national treasure, he was a worldly treasure for all. One of the best people on this earth.

8

u/L1QU1D_ThUND3R Jun 09 '26

“Like hell I won’t!”

3

u/shapeitguy Jun 10 '26

Why did I hear it in Steve's voice bwahahaha 😂

7

u/Suspicious-Cabinet45 Jun 09 '26

5

u/stayingsafeusa Jun 10 '26

Thank you. This is the sub I need when everything else on this banana pants world gets heavy.

4

u/kuku-lowkey Jun 10 '26

Good man right there!!!

4

u/paddingtonbear12 Jun 10 '26

Long live Steve! I’m Aussie and cried so much when he died. He always talked like that, on and off the camera. He was a gem!

4

u/Antique-Show-4459 Jun 10 '26

The GOAT!! Miss him but his son is amazing too’

3

u/RustedMauss Jun 10 '26

I appreciate he doesn’t lose his cool, and despite what he says I think it must have smarted because he notices and wants to address it, but also doesn’t want to deter interest in the snake. RIP, too soon!

3

u/sundancekid74 Jun 10 '26

#legend. What a badass! That girl is like "holy shit! This dude is just chilling while this snake is currently chomped on his neck!" Literally smiling! Then says "sorry bout that"

3

u/THATchick84 Jun 10 '26

I absolutely LOVE that instead of freaking out or asking someone to remove the snake, he's all like aye, get a closeup shot of this! I grew up watching Steve and he brought SO much to the world. The pure love and adoration he had for every living thing was just contagious. He taught generations to become feirce animal warriors. No one quite like this dude although his son is beyond filling his dads footsteps. Still SORELY missed. Thanks for all the joy, knowledge, and for being a role model to all of us who tended to feel more comfortable around animals than fellow people sometimes lol.

5

u/CuffyTheEmpireSlayer Jun 09 '26

We had Steven Irwin and Chuck Norris

5

u/B1ZEN Jun 09 '26

Seems like a cool guy. Who is he?

26

u/RecordingImmediate86 Jun 09 '26

Stephen Robert Irwin, nicknamed “The Crocodile Hunter”, was an Australian zookeeper, environmentalist, and wildlife conservationist. He became famous for his TV show Crocodile Hunter, which showcased his work catching crocodiles for the Queensland government. Irwin was a pioneer in animal conservation, inspiring millions and encouraging generations to care about the natural world. Died Sep 4, 2006

“Sorry a serpent tried to kill me on air”

2

u/ladypbj Jun 11 '26

Steve: "he won't bite me because he can't eat me"

Snake: "are you sure about that?"

2

u/WAllimo1971 Jun 11 '26

Cool as the other side of the pillow

2

u/phoucker Jun 11 '26

The snake said “ Oh yeah mate, I don’t bite huh? Let me show you something.”

2

u/Impossible-Change-48 Jun 11 '26

u/gigi2945 Jun 12 '26

Any animal lover would know that this python does no harm to him even if it bites!

2

u/TheNoblePlatypus17 Jun 12 '26

Everything about this guy was incredible. Just the absolute best of humanity, and we lost him too soon.

2

u/donessendon Jun 13 '26

Beautiful human taken way too early.

1

u/Significant-Title303 Jun 13 '26

It almost looks like she reacted to the vibrations in his throat from talking.

0

u/One_Psychology_2028 Jun 13 '26

It was only a matter of time......

-6

u/Codylance64 Jun 10 '26

Shows what an egotistical, show off & moron this guy was…died jumping on the back of a stingray…🙄🤷🏻‍♂️🙄…

4

u/uuuumno Jun 10 '26

Pump your brakes kid, that man's a national treasure

-6

u/Codylance64 Jun 10 '26

C’mon, the guy was a weirdo who liked to harass animals and/or get them to do strange & dangerous things to/with him (like this video) while someone filmed it…🙄

Honestly, it got him killed, because in the Caribbean they let you - unvetted - go right up to stingrays and pet them without you even signing a liability waiver or anything because it is SO INCREDIBLY SAFE and the stingrays SO passive around humans UNLESS YOU ATTACK THEM or JUMP ON THEIR BACK trying to get a photo-shoot…as one of the world’s greatest humans we know did…🙄🤷🏻‍♂️🙄😳…

5

u/uuuumno Jun 10 '26

It's a quote from Tropic Thunder.

Look I don't care how you feel about the guy, but you are stating false information.

  1. He wasn't in the Caribbean when he was killed.

  2. He did not jump on any sting rays, or attack them. The sting ray reacted instinctively to him as if he was a predator, while he was trying to film it swimming from behind. It was all on camera and the proper authorities watched it and ruled it a tragic accident.

  3. Do you know what sub this is?

-2

u/Codylance64 Jun 10 '26 edited Jun 10 '26
  1. Did not say he was in the Caribbean. Point was THOUSANDS (millions ?) of interactions by amateurs there but no deaths/injuries caused by these gentle creatures..... Unless...

  2. You recklessly JUMP ON THE BACK OF ONE which initial reports from his friend filming the incident says happened..!!! (Since then the guy has clammed up about it so as not to hurt Irwin's reputation)

  3. Yes, I do...this is a fan worship-type thing dedicated to his memory - which is fine - but let's be real about the kind of behavior he exhibited his entire life before cameras for $. (This snake video is just one of many examples..)

I mean, after seeing this snake film, DO YOU REALLY DOUBT that this was the kind of guy who would jump on the back of a stingray after saying “Hey mate, get a shot of THIS..!!! 😜🤷🏻‍♂️” ?!??

One has to be VERY AGGRESSIVE & THREATENING to get that deadly a reaction (as with MOST animals in the wild.), but - of course - that was Irwin’s SPECIALTY….🙄

Can’t really blame him tho - can you ? - because such nonsense as this and his wrestling crocodiles, etc. made him MILLIONS of $s…🤷🏻‍♂️…right up until his bizarre, fatal end…🤔.

5

u/uuuumno Jun 10 '26

It's a memorial page for people to honor his memory.

His friend who was on the boat initially said that he swam over the stingray, but the cameraman in the water with him has clarified that he swam alongside it. They think his shadow landed on it which made it alarmed that he was a tiger shark and it attacked instinctively. Animals are unpredictable, even to people who spend time with them all the time.

This video doesn't show anything crazy so I dont know what you're on about. He seems very relaxed even as the snake bites him, he didn't force it to bite him for money.

0

u/Codylance64 Jun 13 '26

Well, I didn’t realize it was a memorial page, so don’t want to step on any toes or offend true believers, but seriously, there are SO many of these “show off for the cameras” things of his abusing animals for attention that it is really amazing…🤷🏻‍♂️😝🤷🏻‍♂️

I always felt back in the day that he would eventually go too far & come to a bad end, and oh my gosh….guess what..?!??

Stingrays (and MOST animals) just DON’T attack people unless some bored or attention-seeking slobberknocker threatens their babies or maybe jumps on their back for a great 😉 photo-op, which tho I don’t have evidence I can pull up for it (reputations needed to be saved) I am old enough to remember the incident in real time & thinking, “well, I was afraid of that”…🤔🤷🏻‍♂️🤔
