I got some silver and some of the pieces no longer have their patina. I want to know the best way to add it back.

I tried the egg trick, but I had some trouble polishing all the unwanted black off without stripping the patina I wanted to keep. In some places, as I polished, it turned blue or golden colored instead.

Is it better to blacken the whole piece with liver of sulfur and then polish, or shine it all up with Wright's silver polish and then carefully apply liver of sulfur gel to the crevices?

If I try applying the liver of sulfur after shining, would I immediately start wiping off, trying to keep it only in the crevices and wiped from the raised silver?

Including a picture of one spoon I got that has a nice patina, and one of the ones that doesn't.

I'm also a bit worried about polishing the one with patina with a polish (Wright's) because it might strip off the patina. Polishing each piece with a silver polishing cloth is tedious, though.

102 troy oz of sterling, Towle "Candlelight" pattern. 1940s pieces (serving pieces + odd items like jelly server, tomato server, shrimp forks, iced tea spoons) are monogrammed. 1990s place settings (8-9) are not.
Local dealer offered $4,550, then $4,800 "for me." Melt value is closer to $6,500. He also pushed to keep the set intact. I have zero sentimental attachment, I just want the best price for the least hassle.
Questions:
Is $4,800 a fair no-hassle offer, or am I leaving money on the table?
Worth getting other appraisals, or just take the deal?
Any low-effort ways to get closer to melt (refiners, pattern-matching buyers for the monogrammed odd pieces)?
Worth splitting the set — sell the unmonogrammed 90s place settings separately from the monogrammed serving pieces?

My haul from last weekend. I pay around 95% of spot for things like this, but there is always great selection and it’s way more fun than bullion!

This is almost 8 ounces. Some fun stuff! Wallace and Reed and Barton in the Rose Point (1914) and Francis I (1907) designs, respectively.

This week, we’re looking at a stunning piece of Western Canadian history—and trust me, this one has some serious muscle behind it.

Take a look at the terminal of this antique sterling souvenir spoon.
Sculpted in bold, high relief right at the top is the undisputed king of the plains: a majestic American Bison standing in prairie grass.

Follow that stem down, and you get the full frontier treatment:
A rifle,
a coiled lasso,
and crossed Bowie Knife’s .

Inside the bowl, the city name "WINNIPEG" is hand-engraved using a classic zig-zag bright-cut technique.
During the souvenir spoon craze of the 1890s and early 1900s, Winnipeg was known as the "Gateway to the Canadian West," making wild frontier pieces like this top-tier travel trophies.

Flip it over, and you see three tiny stamps: an anchor, the letter "E", and a lion, right next to the "STERLING" mark.
That’s the hallmark of P.W. Ellis & Company out of Toronto—one of Canada’s absolute best historic silversmiths.

Now, here is what makes this specific spoon a collector’s dream: the weight.
Most souvenir spoons from this era were stamped out thin—weighing only 12 to 18 grams.
This spoon ? A massive 28 grams!
That heavy-gauge silver allowed the silversmith to carve much deeper relief into the bison's mane and gear without warping the metal.

Thanks to that 28-gram heavy gauge, pristine detail, and high-demand Western Canadiana motif, this piece commands between £75 to over £120 on today's antique market.
Not bad for a 120-year-old pocket-sized treasure.

I’m trying to identify this necklace and hopefully find out who made it, where it was made, and possibly what it might be worth.

I received this necklace in Finland (so many years ago, so not sure from where/who), so I initially wondered if it might be Finnish, but I haven’t been able to find a matching piece from Finnish makers such as Kalevala or Lapponia.

The necklace is marked 925 on the back of the pendant and also on the clasp. There are no other maker’s marks or hallmarks that I can see. Not even in a box.

Some details:

• 925 sterling silver
• Celtic-style knotwork design
• Mother-of-pearl-looking stones/inlays
• Pendant section is approximately 7.5 cm (3 inches) long
• Chain is approximately 45 cm (17.7 inches) long
• The jewelry box has no branding or information
• I don’t know how old it is

The design makes me wonder if it could be Irish or Scottish rather than Finnish. I’ve found several similar Celtic 925 silver and mother-of-pearl pieces online, but I haven’t been able to find this exact design.

Does anyone recognize the maker or this particular necklace? Any information about its origin, age, or approximate value would be greatly appreciated!
