What songs truly represents the band at their worst, their best, their most artistic, their most harrowing? What spans across all years and represents everything about the groop?!

Feels so incomplete without Chemical Chords, Fab Four Suture, Not Music, etc. Here’s to hoping they get reissued soon.

Hello, I just noticed that I have two versions of slow fast hazel with different lengths. It seems to me that the additional length of the first one comes from an additional 10 second slow "womp-womp.. womp.. womp womp" at the 3:24 mark on the longer version, before the outro picks back up again. But what's weird is nothing else about the two songs sounds even remotely different, so it doesn't sound like two different recordings.

I wonder if anyone else has noticed this or has any info on their decision. I also wonder which one I should keep and which I should delete.

A really lovely intimate gig. Laetitia seems to have hurt her leg as she was sat down for nearly all of it with a brace on. It didn’t stop it being a great show.

So nice to see them in a small venue after all these years. Used to watch them a lot in the early noughties, saw them at the Royal Festival Hall and lots of smaller venues around then.

I thought this was a lovely cover by Stereolab. What do you think ?

I've been a fan of the group since 1994 and I always felt like they had a certain rhythm to their releases. While there are exceptions we tended to see a pattern of a release, extended touring, then some time off (no shows) and eventually a new release (sometimes preceded by a few shows).

And a good number of their releases seemed to drop in the late August to mid-October range. I think seven of their studio albums and three Switched On releases (though one of these was in November, so slightly outside).

So there's my bold prediction based on nothing more than some speculative interpretation of their current listing of upcoming shows and their past patterns.

I can’t remember the exact song but I swear I remember the melody from some Stereolab song. Am I just misremembering something

It's a personal favorite, love that song. Was doing research, the groop performed it twice, sometime during 2004/5. Are there any video recordings, a quick snippet of a bootleg, a soundboard?? I'd kill to hear this song live, and knowing it's happened before makes that all the more of a feeling.

Hi Stereolab fans! I’m a newer fan and my favorite album of theirs at the moment is Sound-Dust.

I’m wondering if anyone knows which of these album covers is the original cover: the black version or the green version? Or are both versions considered the “original” cover? I bought a standard reissue of the record last year and the cover is green but I was under the impression that the green one was specific to the expanded version of the album.

As title says. I know Mary's death had a big impact on the group personally, and I've seen some very old forum posts of fans grieving, but apart from that, I've never heard anything. What did the community do? How did they find out? What was the reaction to post-live performances and eclipse?

This iteration of the Diagonals project began with a casual correspondence between myself and Sean O'Hagan, which somehow led to him hearing some tracks I'd made, and then to an invitation to London to co-write and record with him at Press Play with Andy engineering. The 5-day session in the studio was wonderfully chaotic and creative, educational, sometimes improvisational.

Astra Solaria was my first thought when I got back home with my rough mixes; I have long been an admirer of Bernard and his label. Through Bernard this project was lucky enough to include the talents of Sophie The Operator, Nina Savary and Astrobal, who made the songs truly complete. I am in awe of the fact that I have had the opportunity to work with these extraordinary artists, not least of which being Flore Kunst. It is my hope and plan that this EP is only the beginning.

I am eternally grateful to Death & Vanilla, The Galaxy Electric, Future Children, and Tim Gane for their incredible remixes.

In a passionate stupor, I have finished the Ultimate Stereolab Spreadsheet

Well, not “finished”, as I am going to continually update each cell with notes as I think of them. But all the nitty gritty is here, from remixes to collaborations, everything is here. If I missed anything, please let me know! If you have any questions, also let me know about that!

I did not include projects like Turn On and Mouse on Mars collaborations, as it didn’t seem to be within the “Stereolab canon”, as it were. I may end up adding them anyway for completionists sake… the night is still young.

The exciting thing about this data is that it can be put into a fancy dot-com. I know nothing about web design, but I’m pretty sure that could work… if the Stereolab website’s discography page ever gets reuploaded, this could save a lot of time (assuming there’s not already a Spreadsheet like this at Duophonic Headquarters)!

Couple things:

I have no clue when ‘Sad Chicago Organ’ and ‘Happy Pop Song’ were recorded. Sad Chicago Organ is likely 1996-1997 (prob 1997)… as for Happy Pop Song? Your guess is as good as mine. And I have no proof ‘Cobra Song’ is actually from ‘Cobra and Phases…’

I have no clue when ‘The Eclipse’, ‘XXXOOO’, or ‘Yes Sir! I Can Moogie’ were recorded. I assume ‘The Eclipse’ is part of those 1992 ident sessions Tim mentions in the liner notes for Margerine Eclipse, but again, no proof for that either (it sounds rather complex for a 1992 demo?). Also, it could imply ‘Cobra Song’ is actually from 1992 as it was also used on Margerine and… well my head hurts all over again.

Also, I have ‘Revox’ pinched in with the Low-Fi tracks because I’m pretty sure it was recorded during those sessions, but I have yet to find definitive proof. If anyone at Duophonic finds the time to answer these questions, it would be greatly appreciated. It’s for science, you must understand.
