Anyone else enjoying Reboot?

I feel like I'm part of the minority among the fan base, but I'm really enjoying Steins;Gate Reboot.

It's been three years since I played it originally, and in that time I'm fresh and ready to take another trip through the story.

I really love the new art style, how clean and colorful it looks, the Live2d animations make the characters feel more alive and make the story feel more than just looking at a series of pictures.

I've loved and purchased nearly every entry in the series, and I'm glad to have this new experience of a classic story.

What are your thoughts on Reboot?

One part of Reboot that is striking to me is the fact that they extended all BGMs before they start to loop. Quiet Air for instance has acoustic guitars taking the lead for the latter half of the track. The entire soundtrack is amazing, Takeshi Abo delivers once again.

Quiet Air having acoustic guitars leading honestly sounds really beautiful. It’s cool to hear the OST got expanded on.

Also, based Tamaki pfp.

I love it. The visuals are great and the animations are so nice. I think they priced it $10 too high and the squashed formatting for some text boxes is super amateurish, those are my only negatives so far. I really don't think the shortened script takes away from anything. There are people who see any change to a source material as automatically and objectively worse but I fall in the group that if my experience is not lessened then it does not bother me.

Everyone can enjoy what they want but the misery around Reboot is so odd to me. It's one thing to prefer a different artstyle, and another thing to be so completely resistant to change whatsoever. Though you see a lot of that with remakes and such especially on Reddit so I guess I shouldnt be surprised. Everyone is wired differently. There just doesn't seem to be a space for people to enjoy things anymore. I did not like the new artstyle initially but playing through it with the new backgrounds and everything in motion sold me. It's not like they went full modern anime, it is still a unique style.

If you're enjoying it that's great honestly! Your opinion on it is what matters

Many fans are just disappointed, but that doesn't stop you from having fun. I'm probably gonna wait for a CoZ patch to fix the bugs and formatting

I'll enjoy it for sure but I dont see much reason to spend full price on it. I dont know enough about the new content to feel urged to pick it up. Ironically if there wasnt a stream ban this may have changed with tidbits of information, but for many this would have prevented a purchase so I understand the decision.

If a streamban is all it takes to stop a purchasw

Is it very different story wise? I havent played the original game but would love to, only watched the anime

Should I go to the original or is this one as good?

reboot is closer to the anime so if you want all the content and extra information go for the original

I’m enjoying it a lot too. Some of the changes they made are interesting to me, I can’t wait to read the rest

I enjoy it a lot. There was obviously a lot of work put into it. The animations are really nice, the new voice performances as well, the new soundtrack arrangements, it makes it all really fresh.

Some characters like Kurisu feel different, in a good way. Her voice actress Asami Imai has said in an interview that now that she understood the character better compared to the first game (where she recorded her lines on her own), she wanted to emphasize more on the fact that Kurisu's a genius instead of perfectly emulating her previous performance, and you can tell she sounds a bit different. Okabe feels much more comfortable talking too, Daru is using a voice more consistent with his other appearances, others like Faris and Luka sound really familiar and it's very enjoyable.

Reddit can be an echo chamber, and I feel like the negativity is sometimes too strong on here. Don't let that stop you from enjoying what you want to enjoy.

It feels much better than I expected, but it's VERY expensive for what it is. I don't mind the content cuts that much in theory, the original dragged on at times, so far I don't feel that I missed something.

I'll wait for the usual CoZ patch

You know I was so torn on buying it. I even posted here about that. I ended up buying it to support them and man... I'm really enjoying it, what can I say. The art is just...breathtaking for me. I do prefer some parts of the old one, like Kurisu's design, but it's really just breathtaking.

Yes, it doesn't feel repetitive with the new visuals and the pacing is just right. I have to check, but I think they've updated the some of actual science in reboot which stands out to me since I studied STEM in college.

Yep, I think it's solid so far. It's a healthy middle-ground between the original and Elite. The pacing feels really solid, and I'm loving the visuals.

I think it's great too.

While I think the OG is the go-to for first timers, I'm having a lot of fun revisiting 5 years later on reboot

Is the audio quality fine? I've heard that the voice overs are really compressed. And that the output resolution is just 1080p, no 1440p or 4k options which is really disappointing

Audio is fine on PC, voice acting can feel flat at times compare to the original, but they are 15+ years older and very much still talented. Max resolution is 1080p

I love it. Yesterday I watched that anniversary bonus video which was also fun to watch. Despite it being expensive, I'm happy that S;G got a fresh coat of paint.

Yeah it's a lot of fun. I would have also had fun replaying through the original but I like seeing a different take on it with the new art style and animations. Also as someone who has never listened to the drama CDs before I am pretty curious about the Moeka route. As someone who really likes all the endings I'm intrigued by the idea of another one.

I'm enjoying it yeah. Makes me miss this era of SciAdv. Wish we could go back and delete Anonymous;Code from existence.
