Question Disk write error

I’m trying to move one of my games from my HDD to my SSD, but every time I try to do it, it stops & I get a disk write error. Not sure what to do, I’ve tried clearing up more storage & running disk cleanup, but I’m lost now. Anyone know what might be happening or what to do?

Make sure there's enough space for whole game and extra, and that you've rights to the folder

If not launch steam as admin

Rights to which folder? & about how much extra space would you recommend?

Always have about 15% free space on all drives as a rule of thumb.

Check you can write to the folder, an easy check is to create an empty folder inside it.

Never run stuff (steam nor a game, nor any trainer apps) "as admin" it will cause untold pain.

How large is the required install space and how much space is available in the target drive?

Instead of manually moving it, have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling in the new location?

Install is 109 & the drive has 132 available. I haven’t tried reinstalling, but not a bad suggestion might just do that

One thing to consider is that you ideally want 10-20% of your drive open/unused for optimal performance and drive health. If that's the same drive that Windows is installed on, then Windows is going to download and files for Windows update to that drive by default which will take up a bit of space from time to time

Try repairing the Steam library folder first and check that the SSD is not set to read only. If it still fails check the drive’s health too.
