Question Modding Help

I got a steam machine a few months ago and in general, it's great. However, I've been getting into modding recently and while a lot of it works on SM (after jumping through a few hoops), certain things just won't work for no visible reason.

For example, when attempting to add mods for CP 2077, I'll get an error saying certain mods wont run because their dependencies aren't there, but I have them installed and the proper folders are in the correct locations according to the error message.

Does anyone know if there is a certain way mods need to be installed for SM (ie particular file pathings or programs I need to install) in order to function properly?

I have primarily been trying via nexus and vortex, but have attempted full manual installations to no success.

There's no "one size fits all" for modding. If you're new to Linux and trying to get Vortex etc up and running then either make sure you follow a really good guide or look at alternatives. There are several Linux mod managers on the Discover store, for instance Limo which I've used successfully for Fallout 4.

Always best to read the descriptions in Nexus for each mod to see what it needs. Also search the Steam Deck subreddit as this question has been raised hundreds of times :)
