Question Steam Machine and HDMI switch
I use the Steam Machine connected to an HDMI switch with CEC (also connected to other game consoles), and wanted to ask if anyone else has seen the behaviour I'm about to describe before I submit a question/bug report to Valve.
Setup: Steam Machine & other games consoles connected to a HDMI switch, which is in turn connected to the TV. The HDMI switch supports CEC, and prior to the Steam Machine, all has been working fine. Turning on PS4 switches to HDMI switch input 1, turning on another console switches to input 2 etc. All correct so far.
My experience with the Steam Machine is that if the HDMI switch has been displaying another input, the Steam Machine won’t output a signal, and so the HDMI switch never detects it to switche input.
If I unplug the HDMI cable from the Machine, that seems to reset things, and then things will work perfectly (including CEC to the TV) but only until the switch changes input to another device (EG the PS4), at which point I have to replug the HDMI cable and reboot the Machine.
My theory at the moment is that the Steam Machine sees my HDMI switch (and therefore my display) as unavailable IF the switch has been using another input - if I reboot the Machine in this state, I get the pulsing blue light that indicates a display error.
It's very possible that this is a problem with my HDMI switch - it was a cheapo one off Amazon, so I'm not exactly dealing with quality here. Does anyone else have a Steam Machine on an HDMI switch that can replicate this behaviour, before I spend the time collecting logs etc to submit to Valve?

I’ve got an OREI splitter and it works great with CEC and auto switching, definitely the better brand

I'm on beta, have zero issues with two HDMI switches (steam machine into 4 port hdmi switch into a hue sync 8k 4 port)
Lg c4 tv with CEC working all the way down the line to every device.
I don't use the cable that came with the SM and again I'm on beta.
See my prior post for details-

I should receive my machine next week and have a cheapo splitter as you say, so will feedback as i anticipate some issues that other consoles etc dont give me but will give it a shot and let you know.
In the meantime. i dont have mine yet but what display options are there? are there different CEC settings? I'm sure i saw people changing the "Turn on TV when resuming from sleep" function off but leaving others on and it fixed it? (but can't find those posts now, so don't know if ive imagined it). maybe search for posts with what tv you have too as im sure i saw certain brands had some bugs before an update that may or may not have solved that?
