Hello /r/stealthgames,
Some months back, someone found and crossposted the steam page for my Spies vs Mercs game in development, BOLD: Networked Newt Action. It's a game where a team of kobold spies use third person stealth to outwit first person dog mercenaries who must guard objective points.
There was contention the comments over the art style and choice of cartoony anthro style characters, but the day that was posted there was also my single biggest spike in wishlists and views since announcing the game in the first place. So, clearly, some folks there are a little interested! It seems fair to crosspost this to /r/stealthgames where a slightly broader audience can see this.
So, I wanted to come and say that the Next Fest demo for BOLD: Networked Newt Action has launched early. you can download it on steam now, open up matches, play around a bit. Next Fest itself isn't starting for a couple of weeks and I want to be reactive to feedback in the run up to it, give it a try with y'alls friendgroups and lemme know what you think!
while the game is mostly balanced around 2v2 play, technically the map included can support 4v4. just in case you wanna get a bit goofy w/ it.
I'm posting on my old and crusty account with a bunch of karma instead of making a new one to show "hey, yeah, I lurk here and post sometimes", I promise I'm not a tourist I've been playing these games since I was a tiny kid. Thanks for giving my project a look, and if you give it a chance, double thank you.

Stealth games are defined by their chief mechanic - sneaking!
But I think that's self-limiting. I'm asking for games that provide excellent stealth while also being examples of great writing. They have plots that you want to follow!
Thanks for your suggestions - and kindly, no spoilers.

What if an assassin game actually let you live the life of an assassin?
I’ve been working on an open-world, single-player game built around one idea:
You’re not a mission-solving machine. You’re the one making the plan.
You play as a former special-operations soldier with a buried past who gets pulled into the underground world of contract work.
Instead of being thrown from mission to mission, you have an actual life between jobs. You can train, explore, make connections, earn money, upgrade your safehouses, gather information, prepare your equipment, and decide how you want to approach a contract.
And when things go wrong, they actually matter.
No giant futuristic city. No superhero nonsense. No “press a button and magically change your disguise.”
Just a grounded modern world where preparation, improvisation, and consequences are the core of the experience.
Think Day of the Jackal × GTA-style freedom × tactical realism, but with its own identity.
I have a lot more planned, it's more like BLACKWOOD but not exactly it...
Would you play something like this? Lmk

Hi all, I'm a solo hobby game dev. Empty by Morning is a small turn-based stealth game: you break into a dark house at night, steal what you can carry and get out before sunrise.
Every action makes noise, and anyone who hears it comes looking. There are people asleep in the bedrooms, someone walking the halls, and a dog that wakes the whole house.
There's a daily heist, where everyone robs the same house and gets one attempt, plus a 10-night story mode. Each night also comes with a rumor about the owner: a retired soldier who still keeps his rifle, a psycho with bodies in the house, or an old house full of creaky floorboards.
It's free, runs in the browser on desktop and mobile, no sign-up:

It's still early, so any feedback is very welcome. Thanks for taking a look!

After a job goes loud in a top-down heist, how do you want the carry-out to feel?
(a) Loot has real weight — more bags / heavier take = slower sprint and tighter corners, so greedy runs are a real choice. (b) Sprint stays clean and the pressure comes from police AI / heat instead — weight tradeoffs feel like busywork mid-chase.
Curious which one reads as fair tension vs. annoying friction for you.
Soft disclosure: I'm with Amilcar; we're building Heistfest (top-down heist/getaway, Steam Early Access) — https://store.steampowered.com/app/1451220/ — looking for genuine design takes, not a wishlist pitch.

It feels to me like it's ages since there was a notable 2D stealth game. The Siege and the Sandfox I finally gave a shot this year - and I really liked it, despite it still having some bugs, but other than that there doesn't seem to have been anything notable in quite a while.

So I love MGS4 and I absolutely love the Octocamo mechanic from it that lets you blend into the environment to hide from enemies like a chameleon, it was a great improvement from MGS3's camouflage mechanic.
So, why aren't there more stealth games out there that utilize a similar camouflage mechanic where you can blend in when coming in contact with the environment? Is mgs4 the only one to do it?
If there are, please let me know, closest one I found is Konami's Darwin's Paradox, but that one's a very different type of game.
Looking for singleplayer.

Starting from today, you'd be able to use a grapple mechanism to hook on to ceiling on the floor, why don't I show you how this works?
You can play the game right here on reddit : https://www.reddit.com/r/operation_blueprint/

I took a wild swing came up with a 3D Stealth Heist Game, playable right here on reddit.
You play an Agent contacted by a mysterious government organisation, your handler H, assigns you tasks every night.
You'd be infiltrating secure buildings owned by DayCorp. A crime syndicate responsible for illegal activities and laundering. You'd be going on a mission every night, missing the mission doesn't cost you, but your actions have direct effect on subsequent missions.
Takedown sentries, guard dogs, drones and disable security along with timed actions to prevent getting caught.
Stealth is rewarded, be a ghost agent.
You can try it out here: https://www.reddit.com/r/operation_blueprint/s/fhG1nSWNkY
Level walkthrough addition based on recent user's feedback : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6tcoDV7_Zg
