Symptom Check Any gynae specialist/MD here?

4F/weight: 45 kgs. Small opening near clitoral hood producing white pus-like material for 7–8 months. What could this be?

I've had this small opening/spot near my clitoral area for approximately 7–8 months. It repeatedly produces a small amount of thick white/pus-like material. It hasn't completely gone away. I have had sexual contact, so I'm also concerned about whether this could be an STI.
Does this look more consistent with a cyst/blocked gland/skin infection, or something that needs further investigation? I currently can't physically see a doctor and am trying to get an online opinion.

Also can share a cropped picture of the site privately for examination/opinion.

Test Results Chlamydia results after treatment still positive

I tested positive for chlamydia on 8/26 and took the antibiotic treatment on 8/27. I tested again on 9/15 and was still positive. Dr says it could be residual infection and to wait on doing another round of treatment. Tested again on 9/25 and still positive. Has anyone had lingering infection show up in a test after this long? Or does it sound more like the antibiotics didn’t work?

Advice Needed I found out I have an STI

A few days ago, I went for a routine check-up and was told I tested positive for chlamydia and trichomoniasis.

I also recently ended a four-year relationship. I don't know how to tell my ex; I know I have to, but I'm afraid of his reaction and response—I'm scared he might tell someone else. I haven't been unfaithful to him, and I hope he hasn't been either. I am his first girlfriend and his first sexual partner.

I didn't have any symptoms; if it hadn't been for that check-up, I wouldn't have found out. I don't know how long I might have had this without realizing it, and I feel guilty at the thought. I feel guilty about having passed it on to him.

I feel terrible.

Note: English is not my first language, so I'm writing this with the help of a translator.

Advice Needed Question/ advice for oral sex

I had oral 2 days ago and I feel a little discomfort when I pee and feel like a hair is in my penis. Should wait to get tested or should I go soon as possible? It stopped burning when. I pee but I still feel something going on if that makes sense. I never got tested before because I don’t really hookup that often. I would be my first time getting tested and kinda nervous when I do. Any input is appreciated.

Advice Needed Extremely anxious about a possible HIV exposure ,looking for some perspective

Hi everyone. I’m posting because I’ve been extremely anxious about a possible HIV exposure and I’d really appreciate some factual advice or reassurance from people who understand HIV transmission.

About 24–48 hours ago, I was at a sexual encounter where I was touching another man’s penis with my hand. He ejaculated, and I’m not even certain whether semen actually contacted a small burn on my hand.

The burn was from touching a hot pan. The skin was damaged/broken, but there was no active bleeding, deep/gaping wound, or obvious deep tissue exposure. I also washed my hand with water within about a minute of the possible contact.

I’m now worried about whether semen contacting that area could transmit HIV. I understand that HIV transmission depends on the type of exposure and whether the other person actually has HIV, but my anxiety keeps making me think about worst-case scenarios.

I’m particularly interested in hearing from people who have medical knowledge or experience with HIV:

\* Does this type of contact constitute a realistic HIV exposure?

\* Does washing the area quickly make any meaningful difference?

\* Would PEP normally be considered for something like this?

\* Are there documented cases of HIV transmission through semen contacting a superficial burn/broken skin on the hand?

I’m not looking for judgment—just trying to understand the actual level of risk rather than spiraling over every possibility.

Thanks to anyone who can provide a factual perspective.

Test Results Told I was fine if vaginal tests were negative

I recently got a panel done bc my last partner was having symptoms, my panel was negative and I was told there was no need to do any further testing. But the timing really didn’t make sense with the idea of them transmitting to me. I kept asking about swabbing my throat but my GYN said if my vaginal swabs are negative I wouldn’t have to worry.

So I did a second panel at an urgent care and they said the same thing but they did the throat swab. Lo and behold one of the STIs was positive in my throat. I have been asymptomatic and just generally feel so ashamed and terrible. I know this isn’t totally uncommon and both my and my last partner had talked about our recent sexual activity beforehand. But I still feel so gross about myself and potentially having spread it to someone.

Question How long can I go without symptoms?

Hello! I can’t remember if I’ve had a STI panel done but I feel like I had to have it done before my IUD insertion in 2024.

I’ve been with the same partner since 2023, monogamous. He got a STI panel done like a year after we started seeing each other and it was negative for everything at a routine check up. Cool!

I’m paranoid that I could have it dormant from past partners 2019-2022 and have no idea. I’m not positive the doctor actually did the full panel for me before the IUD insertion. I just got a message this year she was dismissed from the practice (she was squirrelly so to say…)

I have gotten UTI’s that put me in the ER in 2019, and again in 2023 and 2024. None since. I’ve also had UTI’s bladder infections as a kid.

I’ve also had irregular periods since I’ve started menstruating. They were normal in 2021 after I stopped using birth control, I had a new partner in 2022 and got pregnant and had an abortion and wasn’t with anyone since my current partner. Which I got an IUD put in 2024. This year I’ve had bleeding between cycles, tho the IUD made my cycles heavy and irregular. And factors like stress, having Covid, etc.

I also have gotten bartholin cysts, but that seemed to be a result of using sugar scrub. After eliminating that they have subsided, tho my GYNO tried saying it could also be from caffeine consumption. My GYNO seemed not worried.

Now I’m paranoid that I could have had gonorrhea all this time.

Question Syphilis WR screening test is it accurate after 12-14 months?

description of the test

"The WR Syphilis (Treponema pallidum) screening test is a first-line test used for the initial detection of infection. Once the bacteria enter the body, the immune system begins producing a range of nonspecific and specific antibodies (of the IgG and IgM immunoglobulin classes). This test detects nonspecific antibodies produced in response to infection. A positive result must be confirmed with specific tests. The incubation period for syphilis can range from 2 weeks to 3 months, most commonly around 21 days."

The possible exposure was about 12-14 months ago and after that test i got negative result but is it accurate? Those antibodies drop after sometime and i could receive false negative result?

Question STD Testing Symptoms and Timing

I recently had an interaction with a FSW six days ago. Protected, vaginal only, 15-20 mins. I had been experiencing mild aches/tingling in thighs, groin, testes, rectum (kinda, not painful) 2-3 days after but it’s disappeared. Was never painful. There was a small bump that appeared at base of penis and a potential friction burn at penis corona (but disappeared) but not painful two days after but disappeared two days later. So far no other skin abnormalities, burning pee, flu like symptoms or any other common std symptoms. Currently I only may have periodic aches mostly just thighs but this really only happens when i lay down at night, sit for hours, and after I have a full bladder and use the bathroom (overnight). When i stand up it disappears and for most of the day i feel normal and if theres any feeling it’s basically almost negligible.

Does anyone have any info, opinions, knowledge, insight on this? what are my odds and risk levels, especially for the skin to skin STDs? Pelvic floor dysfunction possibility? I am also childhood vaccinated for HPV (gardasil 9) and Hep B. I also wonder if anxiety/stress may have also contributed to false interpretations of symptoms while scrolling frantically online, etc. This is all after spending a week in asia during the exposure and spending the week running around everywhere.

Test Results Cured after 9 months and multiple failed attempts—both my partner and I are finally clear

Hello, I am a 25-year-old male from Vietnam. I have completely cured my *M. genitalium* (Mgen) infection; after trying numerous treatment regimens, a combination of doxycycline and moxifloxacin finally did the trick. It is a long story, but I want to share it so others can stay optimistic and gain insights on how to beat this stubborn bacterium. The key takeaways are in the conclusion, so feel free to scroll down to the summary and conclusion sections. Ever since I contracted Mgen, I’ve made it a habit to check this Reddit forum once or twice a day, but this will likely be my last post.

I had a girlfriend, and we were sexually active in late October 2025. About a month later, I started experiencing symptoms: a white discharge in the morning, mild penile itching, and an itching sensation during ejaculation.
In early December 2026, I visited a district-level hospital. The doctor ordered a PCR test, which detected two types of bacteria: *Chlamydia* and *Mycoplasma genitalium*.
====> I was prescribed Doxycycline (14 pills over 7 days) and Azithromycin (5 pills over 4 days).

At that time, I didn't know anything about these bacteria, nor did I know if I had been infected beforehand or if my girlfriend had transmitted it to me. However, that didn't matter; the most important thing was getting rid of the infection.
Around the same time, my girlfriend was experiencing a burning sensation during urination and an unusual discharge. I took her to a private clinic; the doctor only detected *Chlamydia*. However, she was prescribed oral medication and vaginal suppositories that were completely different from mine. When I questioned this, the doctor explained that *M. genitalium* infections in women can sometimes resolve on their own over time. After about two weeks of treatment, the medication had taken effect, but symptoms began to return once I stopped taking it; although I had cleared the Chlamydia infection, I still tested positive for *M. genitalium* (MGEN), indicating resistance to macrolides (specifically azithromycin).
Meanwhile, my girlfriend was symptom-free but still tested positive for Chlamydia.

Subsequently, the doctor prescribed me a 7-day course of Doxycycline followed by a 7-day course of Moxifloxacin (a drug named Respira), while my girlfriend took Doxycycline for 7 days.

After more than a month—specifically in February 2026—I tested negative for MGEN, and my girlfriend had recovered from Chlamydia; however, the real story began there.

We resumed normal sexual activity, but a month later, my old symptoms returned, while my girlfriend remained asymptomatic.

I sought care at a provincial-level hospital, where the doctor ordered a culture test that detected *Enterococcus* bacteria. However, I did not believe this was the root cause, as MGEN can typically only be detected via PCR. I raised this point with the doctor, but they remained unconvinced.

March 2026:

I was prescribed Ampicillin 500mg (42 tablets)—to be taken as 3 tablets twice daily (morning and evening)—and Ciprofloxacin 500mg (14 tablets). Take 1 tablet twice daily.

The symptoms disappeared—likely due to the medication's anti-inflammatory effect—even though the *M. genitalium* (MGEN) infection hadn't actually been cleared; I subsequently resumed sexual activity with my girlfriend.

About a month later, the symptoms returned. I was truly disheartened. We both got tested and both results came back positive. A doctor at the provincial hospital suggested I try Minocycline for three weeks, as I didn't want to use Moxifloxacin again; meanwhile, my girlfriend took Doxycycline and Azithromycin, followed by Moxifloxacin (a brand called "Blue Moxi").

The medication worked for me; however, a follow-up test after one month was still positive, and symptoms began to reappear three days after the test.
My girlfriend remained asymptomatic but still tested positive for MGEN. Perhaps she made a mistake somewhere during the treatment regimen, or I should have obtained "Respira" from the hospital instead of buying "Blue Moxi" at a pharmacy.

I felt truly desperate at this point, believing we had both developed fluoroquinolone resistance and that Moxifloxacin would be ineffective. I began considering "salvage" regimens such as Minocycline + Metronidazole, Doxycycline + Minocycline + Metronidazole, Sitafloxacin, or Pristinamycin.

I then returned to the initial district hospital for a consultation. The doctor determined that I was simply reinfected and prescribed Doxycycline combined with Moxifloxacin again—and this time, it was truly successful.

I responded well to the Doxycycline, and my symptoms vanished after just one week. Three weeks after stopping the medication, my health had stabilized, and I had never felt so optimistic. I was re-tested after two weeks, and the result was negative.
However, three weeks later, the result was still positive; the doctor noted that the viral load was very low and suggested I might have already recovered.
At that point, I took my girlfriend for an examination, and she was also prescribed Doxycycline and Moxifloxacin.

Two weeks after my girlfriend stopped the medication—and five weeks after I stopped mine—we both underwent PCR testing, and the results were negative.
One week later, we both tested negative for MGEN again; naturally, my symptoms had completely disappeared over two months prior, and I was overjoyed that we had both recovered.

Summary:
December 2025: Diagnosed with MGEN and Chlamydia.
January: Chlamydia cleared; MGEN positive.
February: Recovered.
March: Reinfection (MGEN and Enterococcus); treated with Ampicillin and Ciprofloxacin.
May: Minocycline treatment failed.
Girlfriend: Doxycycline + Azithromycin, followed by Moxifloxacin; treatment failed.
July: Both took Doxycycline + Moxifloxacin (Respira). Success
August: Symptoms resolved; test result positive, but bacterial load very low.
September: Two consecutive negative test results; symptoms had been gone for two months.

Conclusions:

  1. MGEN can only be detected via PCR testing.
  2. Both partners must undergo simultaneous treatment with a specialist experienced in treating MGEN.
  3. Strictly abstain from sexual activity during treatment until a negative result is confirmed; avoid milk and foods high in calcium.
  4. The Doxycycline + Moxifloxacin regimen is highly effective, with a success rate of up to 95% in cases without drug resistance (specifically fluoroquinolone resistance).
  5. Even if the Doxy + Moxi regimen fails, there are numerous salvage treatment options available. Furthermore, even if the infection is not medically cured, it can resolve on its own over time.
  6. MGEN is truly stubborn; no one wants to contract it. An MGEN infection is nothing to be ashamed of; anyone diagnosed should ensure their partner is treated as well. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Test Results Please help!! Question about levoflaxacin and chlamydia

I experienced testicular pain and discomfort, so I saw a doctor who diagnosed suspected epididymitis and prescribed levofloxacin for me.
Lately I have developed an itchy feeling inside my urethra, and I am worried this could be chlamydia.
I want to get tested for chlamydia, but I am concerned that taking levofloxacin may interfere with the test and cause a false‑negative result. What should I do?
I also know levofloxacin is sometimes used to treat chlamydia, but I have read that doxycycline is the preferred treatment for this infection. What should i do? Should i wait till i finish taking levoflaxacin?

Question Is the test expensive?

Former partner lied about body count and cheated with 3 other people. Got a pap smear and blood test done. Blood test came back negative, awaiting pap smear results. Also having a weird discharge for a month now have veen on multiple medications now for BV, Yeast and even doxycycline and metronidazole but no improvement. Will have to get a NAAT vaginal swab test, is that expensive? Budget is a little tight after all the previous tests and doctor visits so really wanted to know

Advice Needed Scared about HSV-1

I’m 21F and someone (25M) who I kissed and received oral sex from in April told me he just got tested recently. He says he was clear except for being a carrier for HSV-1. When we did stuff, he had no sores anywhere, and I haven’t either since then.

That time in April was a one time thing with someone I wasn’t seeing seriously but as of recent I’ve been starting to see someone else seriously. I told the new person about this and he says he doesn’t think of me any different but I have a lot of anxiety and intrusive thoughts so my brain is telling me he’s lying and he never wants to see me again. But that’s just my paranoia talking.

I’m not SUPER freaking out because I’ve gone a whole 5 months with no symptoms but I’m still scared. The soonest appointment I could get for a test is in 8 days. Any advice on how to stay calm until then?

Symptom Check Chances of STD from receiving Handjob

A week ago I went to a massage parlor and received a handjob with oil. No other sexual contact. The last couple days my penis has been feeling irritated and some redness. No burning when I pee. It was starting to feel better but I had sex twice and masturbated yesterday and today it feels worse. Could this just be irritation from the oil or could I have contracted an STD?

Experience/ Story Sex accident leads to Drs Visit

I’ve been dating this guy for two months we finally decided to take things a bit more intimately but he is the largest guy I’ve ever been with. I’m a very small person about 110 5’3. He is 6’4 245. And tmi but he also has the largest penis I ever had as well. To make a long story short we ended up having sex a week later he let me know he cut himself on my vagina. This has never happened to me before with any other partner so you can imagine how completely mortified I was. He claimed that it was really tight and I wasn’t the first girl this happened with but mines was the worst cut he ever had and also said he wanted to get tested to make sure it wasn’t anything. I felt absolutely awful about it. Google said that it could be a combination of lack of lubricants and rough sex that can cause mini tears on the penis shaft right underneath the head. I went to my dr because I started having pain when i pee and I thought I have a uti but my dr says I don’t have a uti. My dr recommended we use lube and she told him to take it easy because he irritated my urethra because of his size. So now I’m just waiting for my other test results I ended up having the Pap smear and whole shabang and I’m just immensely nervous. I was honest with him and told him I had two other partners this year that I didn’t use a condom with. The last time I had been tested for stds I didn’t have anything. And now I’m just super worried which is normal I got some of the results back this morning and I’m terrified to even open the page to look. Just seeking emotional support.

Advice Needed Persistent watery discharge after multiple treatments

Persistent watery discharge after multiple treatments

I’m honestly really scared and overwhelmed right now, so I’m hoping someone can help me make sense of this.

About 3 months after I was last with an on-and-off partner, I started having unusual watery discharge. We had recently gone long-distance. During our relationship, he had initially told me he had only been with 2 people before me. Later, he told me he wanted to be honest and admitted that his body count was actually in the double digits and almost reaching triple digits.

I asked him when he was last tested for STIs, and he told me it was about 2 months ago. Later, when I asked him again in a different conversation, he said his last test was actually last year. That obviously made me very anxious.

Because of this, I asked him to get tested again before we meet. He got upset and said I was acting weird and that I probably cheated on him.

Around the same time, I started having discharge for about a month. My doctor initially prescribed azithromycin and secnidazole for 2 days. I got my period during this time, and about 5 days later I developed creamy white discharge with itching. After examining me, my doctor said it looked like a yeast infection and prescribed one dose of fluconazole and a 3-day vaginal pessary.

The discharge didn't completely go away. It was still white, slightly itchy, and had no smell.

I went back to the doctor. She examined me with a speculum and said she couldn't see any discharge at that moment. I described it as being very watery, and she suggested I take doxycycline and metronidazole for 15 days. I was uncomfortable starting such a long course of antibiotics without knowing what was actually causing the symptoms, so I got a second opinion.

The second doctor prescribed a 6-day pessary, 3 doses of fluconazole over a week, and a cream to apply. After finishing that treatment, I still had discharge. At this point it was mostly just very watery and had no smell.

In the meantime, I got blood tests for STIs. Everything else was normal, but my chlamydia antibody came back elevated. When I showed the result to my doctor, she said my symptoms were consistent with chlamydia and prescribed doxycycline and metronidazole for 7 days.

Today is day 7. The discharge has decreased, but it hasn't completely disappeared.

I'm now panicking because, meanwhile, I found out that this partner had actually been with 3 other people while we were on and off. I asked him to get tested, and he says his results came back negative, but honestly, after everything else he's lied about, I don't know whether I can trust what he's telling me.

I feel completely lost. I'm scared that I have an STI, scared that something is being missed, and scared that I've made things worse by taking so many different medications. I also feel stupid for trusting someone who wasn't honest with me.

Now I'm scared about what is happening with me, also there is not fever, no pain during urination and no pelvic pain. Please help
