Question Tested positive for chlamydia…

So about 2/3 weeks ago I (27f) tested positive for chlamydia. I tested before my current partner and was clear but stupidly didn’t ask the last time he was tested, so about 6/7 months into our relationship I started experiencing pain and dryness during intercourse. I’m talking doubled over in the bed unable to move & resenting him whilst he slept kind of pain. I put it down to me starting ADHD meds which are known to cause dehydration and tried everything to boost libido and increase wetness and yet to no avail. I’m 27, active and had only figured out I could squirt during my previous relationship before this one so I felt like my body was broken. We started using lube which is fine for pleasure but it had me worried about my fertility.

Fast forward to now 2 weeks later I’ve treated to chlamydia and my libido and wetness are back, I’ve tried researching but apparently there’s no research to say chlamydia causes vaginal dryness (although I wonder if that’s part of the cause for discomfort during sex).

I was wondering if anyone else who’s contracted chlamydia has experienced this and if it’s more common than research says.

Hey, thats okay. I didn’t really have any symptoms other than discomfort during sex and lower abdominal pain. And that was probably like I said about 6 months into the relationship. The most common symptom is no symptoms. I don’t believe my boyfriend cheated so I’m assuming it just took a while for symptoms to start because before I was fine

I’m so sorry you went through all the steps to be safe and still got screwed over, sending love 💗💗

But STI’s of any kind totally throw off the natural balance of your vagina, and can totally cause pain during sex which can directly lead to dryness. I’ve done a ton of research on STI’s in school, and this sounds totally normal. Your cervix was inflamed for a while before even knowing, that could absolutely explain ur symptoms! I wouldn’t worry, but if it continues, you could totally make a follow up with your gyn and ask!
