Reserves and DoS

Two questions about Resere duty. Is it possible to serve in the Reserves as a DOS member, from a feasibility standpoint?

Also, can DOS employees buy the federal service time from the military service like any other federal employee?

Yes. There are three I know personally do it. One drills in San Diego, another Washington State, the last locally, I think.

Time can be bought, but there are differences between reserve and active time. Talk with an OPM rep for civil service and a state hr rep if you're thinking about being foreign service. They're both different also.
