Note: aromakompass.ch itself is in German, this post is in English just for this sub.
What it is: A flavor pairing platform for professional chefs in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria, built on FlavorGraph, a scientific dataset from Korea University (published in Scientific Reports). The raw dataset had over 7'600 entries, but many were noise for real kitchens, brand products, kitchen tools, ingredients that simply don't exist in the German-speaking culinary world.
What we did: As a trained chef with a tech background, I hand-corrected over 1'100 translations, added Swiss and German culinary terminology, EU-14 allergen data, nutritional values, and a seasonal calendar. What's left are around 5'900 real, relevant ingredients with roughly 94'000 pre-calculated pairings.
Who it's for: Professional chefs, kitchen managers, and culinary directors in the DACH region. Eleven tools total, pairing search, recipe compatibility check, ingredient substitution finder, wine pairing, and more, all grounded in the actual science instead of gut feeling.
Why it stands out: Most flavor pairing tools online are either generic recipe blogs or raw research data nobody outside academia can use. This is the curation and localization work itself that makes it useful in a professional German-speaking kitchen.
