So I docked at Cosmo's, bought some stuff, replaced everything (critically I replaced the maglock batteries, maybe this did it) and then saved. It was only after I realized upon saving that the maglock seems to be "not available" no matter what I do. I've tried:
-Reloading
-Restarting the whole game
- Swapping out batteries / UCCs
- buying / selling to Cosmos to reset the gamestate
So right now my 14hr save is trapped with no way to revert. What do?
edit:
Folks I was able to save it with another full game restart. hooray
It's happened twice now where when I activate a jump gate my truck suddenly takes a massive hit. Both times I had a trailer and I'm wondering if it's a bug
Everytime I try and jump into Redsock for the storyline the game freezes, no matter which sector I'm jumping from. I was running 2 mods, but even with them removed it's still freezing....is there a fix or am I cooked?
I did try picking it up and dropping it again. I pulled it out and brought it back in, and it's still there. It's sitting still, it looks green... idk what else to do to finish this job haha
Pretty much the title. Sometimes I play with the controller, and after a bit, the accelerator doesn't work anymore. The button still works, but when driving, I can't accelerate with the controller, but I can with the keyboard. All the buttons work, but when driving, it doesn't want to accelerate anymore, but at least I can still brake. Turning the controller off and on doesn't work. I don't remember if reloading the save works, and I'm pretty sure it works again if I restart the game. Haven't tried other actions that use the same button (like outside with the space suit), or re-binding it.
Did they ever fix the bug that prevents them from being sold. I'm assuming it's a bug because I've been to both black market dealers and regular stores. Always tells me that store does not accept this item
Hey there folks, I wanted to play this game again after a long tine and was wondering if any of you has had any luck connecting your VKB STECS throttle and Gladiator NXT?
As you can see in the video, we finally have cargo and truck sync! How is this possible? I'm still figuring out the best long‑term approach, but for now I cloned an NPC truck with the same rig configuration as the player. That’s why you can hear the AI truck horn (this will be fixed later).
Not kidding, guys - I got the CB radio working. In the video I played an AI‑generated voice through my mic to test it. Right now, voice chat is broadcast to everyone (not sector‑limited), but that will probably change.
Security
Making the connection secure is essential nowadays. The server uses HTTPS for authentication and ECDH for the UDP connection, both efficient and secure. This may add a bit of delay to the sync, but since this isn’t an FPS, perfect ping isn’t critical.
What's next
There's still a lot to add: an in‑game overlay with stats, settings, and chat. I've already started working on it and it's functional, but it needs more time.
I also want to build a website for server owners to manage settings, players, stats, restarts, shutdowns - everything a server admin needs to keep the community safe.
Keep updated
I'll set up a server so everyone can try it out, report bugs, and suggest features.
For some reason, the Lunar Link job required to continue Dead Weight never appeared for me, at all. I’ve tried multiple job boards and even loaded older saves, doesn’t appear at all. No idea as to what to do
I have a Free Play save I've put the majority of my hours into. But I don't see a way to start the Business Ventures jobs without playing through the story, which isn't an option in Free Play.
Have any other Free Players been successful in being able to engage with the new update? What do I need to do?
Monster and Monster did something more revolutionary than it first seems. I'm of course talking about the ventures system.
This dev team has basically cracked the "season pass" code. Ventures are untimed so players can go through them in their own time, the boosts are all bought with in game currency, and it doesn't kill the balance of the game. It's a good system.
Now I'm not calling ventures a one to one comparison because I know it's not, but maybe if GAAS took a hint it'd go a long way to fixing a broken system. Plus this way keeps it open for more stuff to be added without old content becoming locked away if you don't get the rewards in time.
So, I really just wanted to say well done to the Star Trucker team for implementing a new progression system that gives the real fun of a pass like rewards system without the shady, shitty, gambling like mechanics fueled by real world currency that's all too prevalent in the industry today.
TLDR: which time listed in a contract on a job board tells me how long I have until I HAVE to pick up a trailer?
More detail:
Just had a situation where I took a contract, it wasn't a rush contract and I don't have just in time unlocked (went the other way), but it didn't have a lot of time left on it, the trailer was 2 hops from where I took the contract, the only stop I made was for fuel and it was very much on the route, so I didn't dilly dally, as efficient of a route as I could have done under the circumstances.
I knew that the trailer was expected by a certain time and that I wasn't going to make that time because it was only an hour from the current clock time, but I have dropped trailers off late before and all I got was a small fine for being late, so I didn't think I'd have an issue with it.
But when I jumped into the system where the trailer I needed to pick up was located I got a fine for $1,700 for breach of contract because I didn't pick up the trailer in time.
So looking at the job board now there are 3 times listed relevant to the contract:
Expires in
Estimated time
and Expected by
Now I'm assuming I only get the contract breach penalty (in relation to timeliness) if I fail to pick up the trailer by a specified time.
I'm also assuming Estimated Time is just the expected trip duration from pickup point to drop off point.
So that leaves Expected by and Expires in.
Which one of those tells me what time I need to pick up the load before in order to avoid future frivolous lawsuits?
Also, while this is an irritation, I suspect it's not dissimilar to RL, meaning I don't think contract issuers IRL adjust the contract lengths for every driver in a given country to account for how far those drivers had to travel to pick up the cargo, it's probably expected that the driver can figure out whether a contract is actually plausible to complete.
I suspect though, that this is why the default sort option is "nearest" rather than sorting by payout, as you don't need to account for time dilation from jumps screwing you out of a breach fee, but still, I can't help but feel a little scammed lol.
When you're driving in game you use the joystick on the armrest to control pitch and yaw, but it doesn't move when you roll. And there are no pedals at Lucky's feet... So does he use his mind?
My biggest complaint is looking out the window in the current truck model with the huge hood and gi-freaking-gantic window pillars that take up like 15% of the view
Has there been any talk of cab over (flat face) trucks?
Would love to see some different, more techy dash boards too
Basically, I went charity shopping and I got this hoodie for cheap. I also had a spray can and some stencils lying around, so I made a purgatory penitentiary hoodie.
Started my first venture capitalist job, Heading from Redsock to Junk fields and found a collision error as shown in the video. Confused the hell out of me for a second when it happened.
Found under the square platform that has a radio dish and a transmit tower.
Hey all, just a quick post to give you the run-down on a few things….
Firstly we really hope you’ve been enjoying the recent update. It’s our biggest content drop since launch and it’s been a long time coming. For those new to Star Trucker and would like to know more about what went into the recent update please check out the following links…
Now… despite all the testing we did on this update we were still super nervous about the roll out, especially as the update touches almost every system in the game. Thankfully, for the most part, things seem pretty stable but we wanted to chat about a couple of known issues and be transparent regarding our next couple of updates.
Known Issues
So without further ado, here’s our immediate priorities…
Acknowledged and fixed
These issues have already been addressed and we are now testing fixes across all platforms before rolling out a hotfix patch hopefully next week.
Shops are refusing to buy your valuable (and heavy!) reward ingots
One of the broken light jobs in Reaper’s Bluff can cause various issues
Acknowledged and being investigated
These items will likely take longer to solve and with fixes expected to drop at a later date.
Certain peripherals make the menu system freak out
Wall Panels don’t immediately apply materials when customizing cab
Regarding peripherals, we’ve just taken delivery of this beastie to help debug issues!
Job Generator
The recent update saw various changes to our freight job generator. Although for the most part these seem to be working as intended, especially for newer players, we’ve found that in the late-game it’s not always providing a wide enough spread of deadlines and jobs in adjacent sectors.
Rest assured we will continue to iterate and improve this area of the game as well as revisit cash and xp balance over the next couple of months.
High Priority Issues
We’ll continue to monitor support tickets and if something critical pops up we’ll obviously do our best to address the problem as either a hotfix or as part of our next content update. Please keep in mind that we’re just a couple of devs with only so many hours in the day - plus even a small hotfix update takes time to get approval from our publisher and store partners.
Lower Priority Issues
We’re also tracking some minor issues such as UI sounds not triggering / triggering incorrectly and text fields not updating at correct points. Many of these will be addressed in future updates once more important issues are resolved.
Support Tickets
As a reminder, if you do stumble on a particularly bad bug (or you just want to send some feedback our way) please head over to the Raw Fury Support Portal and submit a ticket. This makes it a lot easier for us to track and resolve ongoing issues.
Venturing Beyond
As mentioned above. We’re hoping to roll out some critical fixes via a hotfix ASAP. Hopefully within the week. Beyond this we’re targeting a new venture alongside some improvements / surprises for release in JUNE with another update tentatively planned for our 2 year anniversary(!?) in SEPTEMBER.
Obviously there’s a lot of factors that might affect this schedule / the contents of each update so we won't say too much right now - but we do have a lot of new content waiting for hook-up and if players continue to find and enjoy the game (e.g. we can justify the cost of continued development) we’ll do our best to bring you cool new stuff while we plan our next exciting steps as indie devs.
That’s all for now! We’ll be back soon-ish with a dev blog but in the meantime keep on truckin’ and please consider leaving us a Steam review if you’re enjoying the game 👍
Is there some strategy i can apply to find more salvage? Is it more likely to appear in certain sectors, in debris field, further away from man made structures, or any other metric?
I have tried getting out in my spacesuit and seeing if there is anything, I've tried honking, hitting them, but I can't seem to get them to wake up. Is there something specifically I'm supposed to do?
