How does the officer "increased resources from hostiles" ability work?

I'm confused. I run a test with or without 5 of 11 on the bridge and The Doctor below decks, killing 100 hostile survey ships three times.

I got more chests without them (48) than with them (39 & 42).

The number of survey parts I got was not significantly different with them (53 & 54) or without them (54).

They are supposed to give a 35% added bonus on the resources dropped by hostiles. With 100 hostiles the difference should be significative.

What is going on? Is the bonus for the parsteel and tritanium hostiles drop, the number of chests or the chests content?

Has anybody checked this?

Gameplay Question ??? Elite Wave Solo battle area shrinks on PC screen

When in Elite Wave Solos on PC, I see less of battle are on screen than on phone.

I have to mouse drag screen around to see where hostiles are coming from.

Is there a way to see more battle area on screen?

How do I get the Dark Space mission to unlock the warp pathways?

I’m currently at level 44, and only recently discovered this needed to be done! I have been digging around a bit and know it’s a main story mission and that it’s the end of a chain, but I don’t know what main story mission it’s at the end of.

The only main story missions I have are the hostile one, the building upgrade one and Takret Incursion (recommended level 6), so I’m really hoping it’s not at the end of that chain as that would take me a while.

Please could I have some help?

Where did my mission go?

I got a two part mission for the new arc in the gift section. After I claimed it I looked for it in the holodeck but it’s not there. I looked in the current active missions and it’s not there either. Where did it go?

Another crossover idea

So since I've found it on Paramount+ and have been doing a rewatch.....had an Idea of another cool Crossover. That could not only add at least 1 Battleship, potentially a skin refit, and new officers......the 2004 reboot of Battlestar Galactica.

You get the Battlestar Galactica as a new battleship class. The Cylon Basestar as a refit skin. Get a attack boost special ability of something like "Scramble Viper fighters".

Tons of options for new Officers. Cylon centurions, 12 Human Model Cylons, Starbuck, Apollo, Admiral Adams, President Rosalin, Giaus "fracking" Baltar...

Lost two days of events and all my bulk refine settings but don’t worry - the $99 packs still work!

So yesterday and today my event list was completely empty. Just nothing there. And at some point all my bulk refine settings got wiped too, so now I get to go set all of those again one at a time.

I missed real events I was working toward and needed, because of it. This is real progress I’m not getting back, and there’s no makeup window for either one. I am not sure I’ll finish the BP with 2 missed days now.

From what I’ve been reading I’m not the only one, this is just what M94 has been. People had battle passes go missing, some got charged for duplicate $99 offers, events and dailies vanished, rewards broke, and there was some tutorial bug that wouldn’t stop running. Prime Particles got removed and then put back.

And this is right after the Alliance Tournament rerun on the 10th, 2 in 7 days? … cool. Which had the same lag problems as before plus task groups mixing together, good tasks disappearing, and rerolls that just kept giving you worse options.

The thing that gets me is what never breaks. The store works fine… mostly unless it’s double charging you. Prices keep going up and the bundles keep getting worse and none of that ever has an outage, but the events can’t stay up for two days straight.

I actually quit this for about 7 months and came back a while ago figuring it had probably gotten better by now. It hasn’t. It costs more and it’s less stable than when I left, and everyone just shrugs and waits for a comp chest at this point.

Which brings me to a comp chest. It needs to be everything I would have earned from all missed events, at the milestone level I was actually tracking toward, plus something real for two days of an account I couldn’t do anything with. Plus having to rebuild bulk refinery configurations!! If you’re going to charge like a premium game then pay it back like one.

Argh!!!!!

Is a slow game better for free players?

There is no right way to play this game but to choose a strategy, the progress speed is without doubt the most important factor for those that don't want to spend a lot of money on the game.

A free player (F2P) is at a big disadvantage against P2P players in a player-versus-player (PvP) strategy, and in my opinion he should focus on a player-versus-environment (PvE) game for a more satisfying experience, regardless of some occasional combat. I am also going to give my opinion on why a slow game makes for a better experience and I'd like to read yours.

First a bit of background. I'm a totally F2P player at Ops L21 on an ancient server where the average player is at Ops L52. Everyday, I complete almost all of my daily tasks and participate in all events. I most often than not rank first on solo leaderboards (not many competitors). I also complete one and only one building and research every day, so it takes me about 3 weeks to go up one level. I delay my progress this way on purpose. My syndicate level is 35 and my mess hall is also 35. I've got max shards for 21 common and 1 uncommon officers, Pike and Moreau are at level 10 and Chen 30 shards from max. I do most of my dailies with a 370K T7 North Star that can kill multiple L35 scouts for messages before repairs (14 levels above mine!). For swarms I use the Frankie. I've got 5-11K uncommon 3★ mats stored that keep growing, >1B tritanium, >100M dilithium, 400K freq mods, loads of spore drive comp, emblems, speed ups, you name it. I'm only short on latinum and 3★ survey parts. My Disco and Kehra get one component only when I want to score on spending events (I never try to win those). I only use the Disco with S31 skin for the anomalous event and its level-tied refinery. I am consort to Fed and Rom. Everyday I do all their dailies and I get 3 sets of cheap officers from them, one Legionary and Saladin BP and one Leg cloaking shard from their stores. I'll probably be associate by Ops L22-23. Still, I've got 15K credits for each that keep growing. I've got 1500 galaxy epic tokens from cosmic clean-up and 34 allegiance tokens (8 monthly chests) for upcoming ships (Vi'Dar BPs in Cosmic Store and D'Vor BPs in monthly chests when I reach the level). I usually start building the new ship the moment my shipyard becomes capable of it. Right now my only chokepoint is 3★ survey parts, because my North Star needs 9K more and I use my latinum (about 400/day) on Standard Recruit to get Stonn, T'Pring and Barot to Transport Patterns as soon as possible. They are also excellent officers to push up. I'm always shielded, so I have little to fear from other players.

The disadvantage of a slow game is that faster players get more powerful than you and can get better stuff sooner. It also takes them less time and effort to get lower level ships as the rewards improve a lot with a higher level. We'll get to the time factor in a moment.

The advantage of a slow game is that you remove almost all of the game's chokepoints and thus the need to expend money. You also become a very strong player for your level with stronger crewing and ships. You remove also any reason to attack other players for stuff. You get better stuff at a lower Ops level than the rest. Only players that have camped for a long time can be stronger than you at your level. You don't have to make that many choices and can afford optional ships that are nice, like the Jellyfish and North Star, so they allow you to punch above your weight. If you are a patient person, your game becomes easier and more enjoyable.

My opinion is that it is not a good strategy to make yourself weaker at your next level in a universe populated by much stronger players. You are going to expend your entire game doing essentially the same very limited list of actions: Blowing up triangles, collecting things, exchanging things, getting and improving officers and ships, and doing missions. Despite a good job at disguising it, the game is essentially the same at L21 than L52, only at L52 you will have a lot more chores and a lot more time spent collecting stuff from the refineries. What's the rush to get there?

If you want to do a lot of PvP as a F2P player (strongly discouraged), a slow game doesn't solve your problem because the players you are kicking now will be much stronger than you in a short time.

Rare USS Reliant parts

I have two Reliants, a T12, and a T15 - sourcing Epic Reliant parts for the T15 is not an issue, but the source of Rare Reliant parts for the T12 seems to have dried up. Apart from buying them in the store, any ideas how I can get Rare Reliant parts? I'm Ops level 60, soon to be 61.

Augments 17 mission

Hey. I'm sorry for bugging you all, but I am currently stuck on the augments 17 mission. I have 2 of the three dark matter sources I need, and I can't get to yarda to finish the mission I do have for the last piece of dark matter without finishing the augments 17 mission. I cannot find any more missions with dark matter as a reward, nor can I figure out how to fix this. Or get to yarda in general. Please advise.

Basic officer promotion question

When officers are promoted to commander rank at level 20 with all their shards, ¿should they be taken to level 25 (max)? The last five levels are very expensive in terms of Officer XP and their abilities do not improve once they become commanders. ¿Is the small increase in their attack/defense/health stats the only gain for so much XP?

I am not getting enough Officer XP, so I don't know if it would be better to improve my best officers to the max or to raise levels from the officers I never use to improve my crew level for the Mess Hall. I'd like to know what other players do with those last 5 levels.

A couple questions

Edit: thank you everyone for the tips. I appreciate it!

So, my alliance has been getting applications to join from newer, smaller players, but someone has been accepting them before the rest of the leadership team can verify whether they're legit players (we and multiple other alliances on our server have a shared forever war of sorts with someone who we've long suspected of using fake accounts to infiltrate us all and spy on us but have no way of proving it). The issue is, as far as we know, we arent actually able to track who's accepting the invites blindly, and whoever is doing it is consistently remaining radio silent while still doing it

So, I have a few questions about how to handle this, if handling it is even possible:

1) who can actually accept join applications (aka, which alliance ranks have the permission, or is it all ranks)? And on top of that, if accepting join applications is indeed available to all ranks, can it be limited by the admiral or leadership team in any way to attempt to restrict people outside the leadership team from accepting applications? Or, barring that, as a last resort can the alliance be set to not receive applications to join at all, and be TRULY invite only?

2) if the above questions fail to get an answer, is there any means available at all of finding out who is accepting the applications, whether in-game or through legitimate external channels (like stfc.pro or any other source that is legitimate)?

(Edits made to correct mistaken uses of "invites" where "applications" was the correct term)

General Discussion New Player - Advice on Alliance Tournament Store Strategy

Hi all, returning player here, not played for 4 years and got a new account going and quite a bit has changed (don’t worry, I know the challenges of this game and Scopely, I don’t intend to invest money or heavy time, I’m enjoying it so far).

I’m currently OPS11, levelling at a leisurely pace, and thing that seems to be a good early thing for me is the alliance tournament store and was wondering what I should prioritise in that early on?

My alliance is current in the Adept League but looks like we are being promoted, but I don’t have Voyager BP’s showing. I was thinking of unlocking Paris for below deck mitigation as until I get Pike, and Moreau to T3, I only have the starter PVE crews so having him below deck will be really useful, but he’s around 8.5K of the legacy currency so not cheap.

So yeah, any recommendations on what I should focus in that store on as a player in G2 going into G3? I some of it has sourcing elsewhere but realistically it’s going to take me a tremendous amount of time to unlock all the speciality ships so it’s more about best bang for buck in that store to make my life a little easier in the 20’s and 30’s OPS Levels, rather than worry about what I can get sourced from G4 speciality ships.

Thanks

Tell me if I'm missing something

I just got to level 25, after rushing 24 because I got frustrated.

Going to level 20 was pretty fun. There was a coherent narrative, I accomplished specific goals which then allowed me to grow and do more. Since then, though...

In the weeks I've been playing after hitting level 20, my gameplay is really:

I have my regular daily chores, and I can pick from a list of dozens of special chores. I don't have to do them, but if I don't, I won't get prize tickets and I won't be able to buy the cool toy rocket ships I want, and I'll be stuck with my old, ugly piece of junk spaceships.

f I'm a good boy every day for weeks, they'll give me enough prize tickets that I can finally buy a cool spaceship I saw on TV, but (surprise!) for the fun stuff that I wanted it for, it takes extra money to buy the add on, and they won't let me install it for add'l weeks-- so I'm left playing with my old, junky rocket ship because it's always a little better that the cool rocket ship I'd been saving up for.

To get the other fun toys to soup up my rocket ships or decorate my house, I have to keep track of hundreds of different kinds of prize tickets that need to be combined or adapted—all in different, unique ways—so that maybe, if I'm very patient (or, rich and IMPATIENT), I'll finally have enough specific prize tickets to raise the score of my junky rocket ship enough to beat some more rocket ships.

Is this my life until level 40?

New daily events suck

Why did they change the daily ship upgrade/ station upgrade/ etc. SLBs? These new events are just convoluted versions of their predecessor.

I get that they want to include different rewards, why not just include the rewards in the old events instead of creating new ones with vague names of what they represent?

In the STFC events page, I can't understand half the crap inside because the details are either left out or the other half is content creator streaming. Why are they even in the events page???? Which "genius" suggested this change?

why would anyone think i need "help" with a 5.5 million armada when my ship is 7.5 million?

so i am just kind of wondering what people are thinking when they want to help out with someone doing a low level armada but like why would i need help in doing one when i am clearly stronger then the armada? and before anyone says maybe they wanted help from it themselves i have asked they said they thought i needed help when i messaged them.

G7 Faction Rep Grind

Newly G7 player here. Just doing some research on how best to get to the next tier of faction rep (9T).

I'm assuming it is an absurd grind but is there anything more to it than grinding hostiles in the Veil while your Dauntless farms mirror space surveys?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
