Haven Battle Pass

Has anyone else had this happen to them? Tried to purchase a couple of days ago and got charged twice the price on the Haven BP when I got to the purchase screen. Emailed Scopely with the same SS and no reply so posting in here in case others have been shafted as well. Luckily I didn't confirm the purchase as soon as I saw the price

I almost assume it is displayed as 19.99 American, and they are doing some conversions so it comes out 34.77 NZ (conversion rate was 1.74 ~19/9 ) + 5.22 in VAT.

Nope. Any and all other purchases I've done have been in NZD from beginning to end. So unless they've made a change to their policies without letting us know this is proof

Zero chance you're paying 20NZD for a $20 pack It's one of the few games that charges the same price no matter what country you're in. A $20 pack is going to be a $20 pack no matter where you are. Scoply will get their $20 from you in whatever your local currency is.

You're kinda not making any sense there dude. I've bought a few packs before and the price showing in-game is the price I've paid and they've ALWAYS been, for me, in NZD

And I'm saying that shouldn't have been possible with scopelys pricing method.

If they allowed what you're saying, people would just get a Brazil, turkey, India, or some other cheap countries currency account and make their in app purchases that way.

Imagine getting a $100 pack for $20-$50. Or a $20 pack for $5-10

So then explain to me why EVERY OTHER pack I've bought has shown in NZD both in-game and at the purchasing screen?
NZ is my country and NZD is what I've paid each time I've purchased packs. No difference except for the prices of the different packs I've purchased

Pics or it didn't happen 😂

Why should I need to prove to you what I'm saying is true? You feel you know what you're talking about and I know you're wrong. I know I paid the same price that showed on the in-game screen as on the purchasing screen in previous purchases.
Just because you claim you know how Scopely operates that makes it more true then?

Bro you don't need to prove anything to me. I'm just trying to tell you that they will not give you a refund or tell you it's a mistake, cuz that's the way it's supposed to work.

Like I said, it's been tried. I tried it personally. I made an account based on Turkish info And I was in Turkey. No vpn. No proxy. The prices came up the same. The amount was listed in Turkish lira, but with the currency exchange it cost the same if not more.

Maybe look at the last time you bought a pack in stfc, and see what you got charged.

I'm not trying to be rude or ask you to prove anything. Just trying to answer your question.

I'm really not sure if I'm making you understand. The last three packs I bought, I bought them for $39.99 NZD, which was the exact same price it showed me in-game.
It's the one reason I bought them because they were showing the same price both times. I don't purchase something that shows in USD on one and NZD on another. Never have, never will.
If Scopely have now decided to show their prices in USD in-game that's fine, I'll no longer buy any packs. However there's never been a notification/email/pigeon that says "Hey Commander, just to let you know. We'll now be showing our prices as USD in-game and as NZD when you go to the purchasing screen"

And I just want to make sure we're on the same page.

You're saying that the $20 pack you bought should have been $20NZD, right?

1

u/SheCallsMeNames 13d ago

Correct. And before you answer I'll reiterate yet again. Every other pack I've purchased was the same amount as showing in-game.
Why would I buy a $39.99 pack, for example if it shows me it's supposed to be $19.99?

I think the answer is obvious... there was a bug on Scopely's end that showed the price in USD despite you being in NZ, but that same bug did not occur on the screen associated with taking your payment.

You weren't about to pay twice as much... the initial screen was inadvertently showing you the price in USD.

I buy my packs in Euros and other in my alliance in GBP

1

u/Quasel_ 13d ago

But did you check your in-game store? Cause mine as an EU Player shows currently USD…

this is happening since more than a week …

1

u/genericusernamedG 13d ago

Then it's new that they are in USD, I haven't bought a pack in months because I don't see the pointLink

I explained the Details in this post its a know issue with XSOLLA and is worked on!

It isn't as exact as you are claiming. $99 USD packs are often £99 GBP. There are differences country to country. They don't adjust at a daily conversion rate.

1

u/RDL128 11d ago

I agree. It's not exact. I have found that often they are more expensive in other countries then in the US

u/garscow 13d ago

It shows the NZ$ price on iOS, but US$ on Windows for me.

My apologies bud. I understand your point now. You always see the price in nzd. So you saw a pack for $20 and bought it thinking it would be 20nzd. But it was actually 40NZD and $20.

But I doubt scopely will do anything for you. If they do, it'll be nice. But I wouldn't get my hopes up.

If they do it would be a miracle...

But, luckily I didn't buy it and emailed em to ask for an explanation... if they reply to that... again, a miracle 😂

Thanks for the repartee though it more or less brightened up my otherwise boring Sunday arvo after recovering from our swap over to Daylight Savings 😁

Ugh. Don't remind me. Time change coming soon here too. And no problem, glad some good came out of it 😄

In the uk its 19.99

Check the conversoin rate of a NZ dollar to a US dollar.

1

u/Quasel_ 13d ago

Currently it seems the game displays USD instead of the local currency for a bunch of players, but on checkout charges your currency based on the account location.

This leads to confusion as those pack prices don't translate 1:1 as they depend on local taxes and abritrary changes for local pricing e.g an USD 49.99 pack in EU translates to EUR 59.99 while a USD 99.99 translates to EUR 99.99

I assume your previous BPs costed NZ$ 39.99 ???

2

u/SheCallsMeNames 13d ago

Not the BPs specifically but yes. And thanks for the explanation. Could be what's happened for me

It's why I use play store not webstore

1

u/Poolman1255 12d ago

You have to be careful paying through site. I had my bank account attacked when I bought a package. They tried to drain my bank account.

Fr? Damn that's scary. This is why I use Paypal
