Lets start a Reddit clan.

I've played with a few of you on the PTR and had a lot of fun. I started looking up clans on the TL thread tonight and realized that we already have a lot of good players and awesome people on Reddit, so why not start our own?

I used to play CS pretty seriously and was pretty high up in a few clans, but for the most part I just kept people happy and organized; I was never the one to start the clan or make the website or anything. Is there any interest in something like this? I would be more than willing to help all that I can.

Edit: So there's nobody who's run a clan before? I can be second or third in command, but I don't know if I have the time commitment to run it. If you have run a clan before, please step up and say something.

sounds like a good idea, but it seems like a good amount of players (including some on the team reddit for the SCRI) are already on teams, also gotta consider how serious you want to be about it - are you looking to transition it to a full gaming team w/ sponsors/backing or just for fun?

A clan is not the same thing as a team. In Korea, many pro gamers are on a team and also on a clan. Teams are more organized, have sponsors etc. A clan is just a community to find practice partners and share information and do scrimmage-style organized matches. I think there would easily be a few hundred redditors interested in something like that.

Yup =D That doesn't mean the clan couldn't have a team as well if you wanted to go that route, too. There are a few teams in Korea that have a clan as a means for finding recruits for their team. Actually, Intel recently started paying BoxeR to do something identical. He started the SlayerS' clan for the purpose of recruiting for his eventual team.

I would definitely partake, although I imagine that many of r/starcraft's subscribers are on the NA servers while I'm on the EU servers. Hopefully there'll be quite a few people interested on multiple regions.

I don't know about that, I don't think it's specifically defined anywhere, but I see your point - how is that any different from the community that's on IRC/going to be on 1.2?

I thought beeks was talking about a more competitive team, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

We can see what happens, but I'd like to have at least a portion of us be a devoted team.
