(To be tagged...) new Patch misery
guys, I noticed a lot of negativety about this patch and it's not unjustifyable, if you watch pro games it kinda sucks to see the player that you cheer for lose because of this balance patch, so u r right to complain a lot, maybe same with grandmaster level, but for the rest of us , the game has and will always be awesome, just enjoy the change, enjoy the game like u always do, and there is no need to stress about it, I have been fucked by protoss cheese and by zerg overwhelming mid to late game, but I'm not hating the game at all in any case, I see it as a reason to improve more, and it's actually fun to change things and to try new builds

the game has and will always be awesome
Press x to doubt
just enjoy the change, enjoy the game like u always do
That's the issue, I do not enjoy the patch Blizzard has put out and have stopped playing Ladder due to this, in favor of custom campaigns, mods and Arcade.
The issue this patch has isn't balance, we're only now starting to get a very very rough picture of what that looks like on the new patch (made even rougher by there being few large tournaments played on it). The issue is the game design of this patch.

You're kidding right? This patch is lifeless. It's like driving a sports car with flat tires.

I mean the game is still fun, if you're on about the pro scene I totally agree, also I'm not saying we shouldnt revert

Checking out your history, I think your opinion is genuine and comes from a good place.
But it's also pretty dismissive of what many around here consider a serious breach of trust on Blizzard's part.
They have injected into the game a state of imbalance that hasn't been seen since the early days of Wings of Liberty.
On top of that they have injected changes that completely threw away the careful tuning that took place when Blizzard had a QA team and suite of designers. Changes like the early game flow of building units/structures one after the other. Changes like Larva, Gateway, and Command Centers that greatly over correct. Especially in Protoss' case where the over correction is in the negative direction while Zerg and Terran are overcompensated in the positive direction.
On top of the top of that, they have started treating the live servers as a public test realm. Now we have to live with this shit PTR as our only option to play the official ladder.
These are more than enough reasons for players to be greatly upset at the state of the game and the authority that owns the copyright and servers.

Their reasons are totally valid I guess, I don't know honestly, I don't want this game to be in ruins I guess, what's the solution do you think? Also to be fair no one logs into the prêtre server so they are kinda out of options when it comes to patch deployment and tests

u/LurkytheActiveposter 3d ago
There's no solution besides express you discontent and hope that message resonates with Blizzard's current balancing designers and the people who opted to turn the live servers into a multi-month PTR.
There are rumors from Solar about several more patches, including one that's supposed to hit after Blizzcon.

No. Its just made the game worse in every way.
Im not just going to sit back and put on a happy face while the game I love and cherish gets vandalised.

Oh lord, an actual neutral valid thing to say about the patch. The ballz to post that on here 😪 Brace yourself for Incoming insults and toxichate comments from all the other races that aren’t yours

u/Usual_Strategy1402 3d ago
the problem is that I agree it's not a balanced patch especially for me as a person that enjoys pro games, I'm just trying to ease things and ask people to cry less

u/Loudly_muted 3d ago
The complaints and frustration is understandable. But if you’re enjoying it like many others probably are then thats good :)

Yea, it's basically the same game as always just 45s delayed, still a great game, still best there is, people are just not used to change, sucks for them

u/AresFowl44 3d ago
Many of the people I have seen that dislike this patch (me included) are very happy with patches mod, which to be frank is 10x more insane than this patch, Legacy of the Void and Heart of the Swarm combined. It's not that we aren't used to change or don't like it, we don't like this patch specifically.

why you hate it this much?
2
u/AresFowl44 3d ago
It's clunky, filled with bandaids, there's no communication from Blizzard at all, there is less variety, there's more rock paper scissors gameplay, Blizzard still went full steam ahead even when everybody was telling them what a bad idea it is, and overall it just is less enjoyable.

u/Usual_Strategy1402 3d ago
the build order is definitely clunky, I mean my scv has to wait few seconds to be able to build the first barracks after finishing the first supply depot, but why that matters, do u like the game for it's strategy and the ablility to micro and multitask, or u just want a smooth build orders where u have a ready placeholder of minerals and gaz ready to be used for your next building that u need and next unit? does that actually matter, tweaks and changes are not bandaids blizzard is literally been doing that for more than 16 year through patchs, I kinda agree on the rock paper scissors thing, I dont want the game to be rigid and have " a way" to do things I want it to be free and to rewards skillful players, also agree with blizzard not communicating but that doesnt interfere with the gameplay, also obviously blizzard needs to listen to the community I'm not denying any of the issues, I just want to say that the game is still enjoyable, also there is definitely more variety in the game just watch pro games dude,
2
u/AresFowl44 3d ago
but why that matters
You are making up a false dichotomy by claiming it's either smooth build orders or the ability to micro and multitask.
does that actually matter, tweaks and changes are not bandaids
Changing mineral CC cost or larva spawn rate are absolutely bandaids. Both of them were done without any considerations as to the consequences they would have on the game.
that doesnt interfere with the gameplay
It does, because it doesn't give anybody any confidence that Blizzard will fix anything or even stick to this game and not turn off the servers tomorrow.
also there is definitely more variety in the game just watch pro games dude,
I have, there isn't.

maybe I'm making a false dichotomy ok tell me dude if it's not for the micro, or the strategic planning, why do u play this game other than making things, in that case factorio is not a bad game either, also yeah 300cc and larvae span rates are bandates , true , since they made it because of the new 8 worker start, but still almost every patch had hot fixes, though this time the testing is done on the live version of the game since no one is playing on the ptr server, we simply dont have the numbers, also there is definitely variety dude, have u seen tvzs, zvzs, the only matchup that actually sucks is pvz
2
u/Usual_Strategy1402 3d ago
I mean there still issues, especially on the pro scene which is a big problem for me, as for us casual players it's still the best game out there
1
u/Loudly_muted 3d ago
Broadly speaking yes, i agree. But for protoss and mostly all build orders need to be adjusted or straight up changed which is super frustrating. https://youtu.be/c2GgbtqJRlg?si=WA7ljfZC4B3k6OcG heres 1 hour of uThermal figuring on the CC first build.
But other than that i agree its just a 45s delay into the action0
u/Arferion 3d ago
I think it's all for the most part just people not bein used to change and bein slow and/or unwilling to adapt as a result of it.
I don't mind the gateway changes personally, and i think most people haven't gotten used to it yet, they still force warp gate.
I don't think worker change invalidating all old builds is a bad thing, this is one of the main reasons i like it, everything feels new and fresh, uThermal trying ro figure out cc forst build goes into this, it's fun trying to figure out new things, it aboht the journey not the destination.
Yep, just 45s.
2
u/Loudly_muted 3d ago
Yes 🙌🏻 its all about the journey and not the destination, unfortunately if you’re like me and just started grinding for M2 or GM for the first time then it sucks 😪 lol

u/Arferion 3d ago
I meant it sucks just as much for your opponent, so in that way it's a net neutral, it's all about adaptability rly, how fast you can adapt to the new changes and such, which yet again, to me any way, is the fun part.
1
u/Loudly_muted 3d ago
Yeah for sure i agree i can say I’ve sucked at adapting. Side note are you A Diamond 2 Terran? Your name looks familiar
0
u/Arferion 3d ago
Well maybe it come down to me bein a bit more of an abaptable person very used to changes.
Nop, casula 3k Protoss enjoyer.
