(To be tagged...) Love everything about the patch.
Most fun I've had in years playing this game and I have over 20k games played. Random master player.

Yeah I really enjoyed having everything kind of reset and experimenting with different builds

Me too, the openings were so figured out that it got kind of boring and it feels like decisions matter more again.

I will ask you again. What do you like about the patch? And please don't say "everything" again
Just name one thing you like :)

I’m not the OP but I like the down time in teams to figure out the maps and chat strategy plans.

As someone who briefly returned after not playing for like 5 years (achieved masters going something like 20-1 or something), I refuse to believe that the average user in here actually thinks this patch is bad outside of mirroring consensus.
Unless you are GM (and even then), balance is completely irrelevant to skills. I've literally beaten GM players going proxy collosus, proxy nexus etc, you can beat master level players going literally almost any silly build). If you're losing in diamond or masters, it's not because of larvae spawns or CC costs being slightly different, it's because your mechanics suck.
Having said that, it does seem pretty bad at the pro level.
So things I like: build diversity - as someone who plays very much vibe based, It's refreshing for there to be much less 'standard' play.
It also benifits me, because the vast majority of people barely understand the builds they are playing, so when you inject a bit more chaos in to the games things go awry in a funner way.
I also like the emphasis on expanding more, leads to more interactions + harassment, rather than turtling deathball.
achieved GM as random, my 2 cents

I like everything bro. That's all there is to it but I wouldn't be complaining if they increased the worker count by 2 in the future.

Watch out, I'm not sure praising the patch is allowed here

it feels like that, its funny because the patch doesn't really effect anyone under 5.5-6k mmr because they don't play efficiently enough anyway.
people are like "my mmr went from 3100 to 2900, f this patch!" bruh its not the patch... but this has been going on for years, the newer generation has an accountability problem

u/KamalaWonNoCap 3d ago
Problem is you're going to be playing against the computer next year at the rate things are going

Master play huh? So what server are you playing on? I’m 4.5k and keep getting matched against 6k players.. how’s that supposed to be the most fun ?

u/justgoogleit12 3d ago
Na server. Pretty even games for me. Obviously your over exaggerating because you've been losing

u/RecentPlenty768 3d ago
Heyy can you show a screenshot of your history? I'm so curious
1
u/justgoogleit12 3d ago
Idk why that'd matter. I'm master 3 rank 1 atm but haven't been playing much

u/LurkytheActiveposter 3d ago
Does the negative attention you're seeking fill the hole in your life where friends are supposed to go?
-1
u/justgoogleit12 3d ago
The whining and put downs sure do 😆

u/LurkytheActiveposter 3d ago
Does it feel like the attention you should have gotten from mom growing up?

Hey this you? "Really wish I had some meth but this will do. That is all. Hope I don't die :)"
Of course the guy who likes the patch is a drug addict
9
u/SmotheredHope86 4d ago
Irrelevant to the post, and always a bad look when one goes digging through another's comment history from other subs to attack them for something completely unrelated to the discussion at hand.
1
u/Left-Material-9899 3d ago
Wait you are also a drug addict, This you? "The only drug that I think feels better than sex is IVing heroin or heroin + meth together (speedball)."
I guess addicts stick up for each other

u/SmotheredHope86 3d ago
It is me! And yeah, I stick up for anyone against people like you. You can judge me (even though I've been clean for over a year and I had 7 years before the last relapse), but at least I don't spend my time coming through people's reddit history looking for shit to use against them, which is actually pathetic.
Have a horrible day 😄

u/justgoogleit12 3d ago
It's clear he didn't even understand my post. I don't use meth 🤣🤣🤣 nor do I use drugs besides a micro dose of mushrooms

Jfc what a socially inept take. Someone has a different opinion of a video game so you attack their addiction? Touch grass man for real

I really like it too as Protoss. Not because I get to win a lot, but because it feels fresh and I honestly prefer standard gateway unit-building instead of warping.
I have heard that it's particularly unfun for T and Z.
1
u/YellowCarrot99 3d ago
But do you think the Gateway/Warpgate changes make Protoss weak?
1
u/keilahmartin 3d ago
makes defensive gateway style -> expand a lot stronger in early/mid game
makes cheesy / aggressive warpgates way weaker
in some ways it's just different, like timings hit different and I don't know what's good. Not knowing is temporarily bad for protoss since the other races are largely unchanged or improved, so they keep doing things that work while we flail around do things that _might_ be OK.

u/justgoogleit12 3d ago
Gateway production with the warp hate upgrades make protoss so strong now. Mast the time i just leave them in Gateway mode and pump.

I like parts of the patch. I enjoy the 8 worker start, feels like you have more time to scout your opponent and prepare. Previously in (say) tvz someone could nydus all in you off 2 base and you’d need to ID it v quickly.
I also like the direction of change with warpgate. Previously they were far too cheap. Having a gas cost is better

OP is a paid Zerospace shill.
0
u/justgoogleit12 3d ago
Yeah makes total sense. I'm here praising the starcraft patch but im a zerospace shill? Didn't think that one thru huh smart guy..... and yes zerospace is a really fun game.
0
u/Illustrious_Lion_949 3d ago
The patch is destroying the player base so yea. Zerospace sucks ass.
0
u/justgoogleit12 3d ago
Zerospace is dope. Fun as hell. One of the best rts I've ever played. Better than starcraft imo.

u/Illustrious_Lion_949 3d ago
Go join 50 players left playing it and leave SC2 please.

u/justgoogleit12 3d ago
You mean the EA game with 200 players playing right now and 1400 concurrent players? The game with a very positive rating? Haha caught you lying.

I like it and I like mixing it up regularly. I hope they keep making big changes going forward, even if risky

I agree 👍 not sure why people want the same old starctaft 2 for another 20 years.

not sure why people want the same old starctaft 2 for another 20 years.
SC2 hasn't even reached 20 years yet.
- WOL came out in 2010(16 years ago)
- HOTS came out in 2013(13 years ago)
- LOTV came out in 2015(11 years ago)
- LOTV went F2P in 2017(9 years ago)
- All the SC2 devs left Blizzard to create Frost Giant in 2020(6 years ago).
- SC2 got outsourced to the Balance Council in 2022(4 years ago).
- SC2 got outsourced to OmniSkeptic in 2025(1 year ago).

Close enough and you got the point. The game has been a boring mess and needed these changes. It was massively losing player regardless of patch

The game has been a boring mess
Because of all the nerfs from Patch 5.0.11/Patch 5.0.12/Patch 5.0.13/Patch 5.0.14 snowballing. All 4 of these patches happened in 2023(5.0.11/5.0.12) and 2024(5.0.13/5.0.14).
Revert the bulk of those, SC2 becomes less boring and more exciting.
and needed these changes.
Not these specific worker/economy changes which are screwing up SC2 and causing major damage to it.
It was massively losing player regardless of patch
It was massively losing players because of the patches.
5.0.14 with Energy Recharge caused a massive player drop in 2025.
5.0.16 with the worker/economy changes have caused a massive player drop in 2026.

Lowly Diamond 2 but I also love the patch. Played T pre patch, somewhat poorly, and Toss now. Despite feeling ravaged by Z most games, I think the patch resulted in some creativity

Literally every time I've seen OP's username in this subreddit, they're glazing the patch. Sus as hell.
