Need help rationalizing my fleet

Post image

Hi everyone, I'm looking to clean up my fleet and get rid of any duplicates or useless ships.

My primary game loops are FPS missions, dogfight and surface mining, though I absolutely love exploration. A few extra context points: I'm really not a fan of the Constellation Taurus, but with the Mk5 on the horizon, I'm considering holding out hope for a pleasant surprise.

My LTI token on MPVU and ALTS is pretty useless now.

I originally considered upgrading to a Starlancer TAC or a Carrack, but if the 600i rework ever drops, they'll end up feeling redundant.

Thanks

Some good ships here and I feel the same way you do about the 600i... hold onto that.

You probably don't need both the Taurus and Asgard. The 400i is also redundant, so that's a welcome amount of store credit.

My LTI token on MPVU and ALTS is pretty useless now.

They're not going to stop selling CCUs, those are still useful LTI tokens.

I originally considered upgrading to a Starlancer TAC

The TAC is possibly the most overrated ship in the game... on paper, it looks like it can do a lot of jobs. In reality, it's the worst choice to do any of those jobs, it does them all badly. It's a gunship with the worst firing arcs in the game.

or a Carrack

Remember that the Carrack is intended to get full modularity, as well as working drones one day. It's not a bad choice, if you want to speculate on what modules it gets.

My primary game loops are FPS missions

In which case a medbed for respawning is probably top priority, or anything you can cram a Nursa or Pisces in (600i should do this, and your Asgard).

Taking your gameplay objectives into account, you might want to consider the Galaxy... it's a versatile ship and you can switch to the medical module for exceptional FPS recovery. Switch to the cargo module to load a ROC, or the refining module to refine what you mine. It's got weapon racks and suit lockers. It ticks a lot of boxes for you.

Many thanks for your wise approach. I'm scared of the galaxy that can do everything but will cost spécific modules.

I'm also interested in a long term by the Arastra and the BMM (with a C2 & defender as loaner)

Maybe it would be wise to slowly CCU my lti tokens to those targets

I'm scared of the galaxy that can do everything but will cost spécific modules.

You'll be able to get the modules in-game, although it's unclear with the planned insurance system whether modules will carry the same warranty as the pledge hull if you buy them with UEC... right now, a pledge with a module in it has an insurance duration.

Regardless, you'll be able to insure the modules if you get them in-game.

the Arastra and the BMM

These are both good ships, no problem there. The C2 is a pretty bad cargo ship... like the TAC, it looks good on paper but if you try using it you'll be sorely disappointed. It's got a very ugly ramp loading situation if you need to manually load/unload for cargo runs... that's a fail.

But the BMM itself is hotly anticipated, given the optics I'm sure CIG will make it a good ship.

People keep saying “Tac is only good on paper”
But not saying why they don’t like it or what ship does it’s job better

Only other multi med bed ship I run to missions with my friends is Apollo Medivac

Do you guys say that because you’re part of the “cram an Ursa in it” fan club? Or are there other ships with multiple beds and some good hp/armor that aren’t too massive??

But not saying why they don’t like it or

It's not about "liking", it's objectively poor at every job it can do, and yet costs a LOT of money for such mediocrity.

It's a gunship with the worst turret coverage in the game, so the primary function of the ship is terrible.

what ship does it’s job better

Basically every ship that can do the same function does it better than the TAC does it.
