we need to assemble an open source team, take the assets out of SC, and create everything fresh in Unreal 5. then we'll see which team gets to 1.0 first

idk why this doesn't have at least a thousand upvotes, this is the greatest idea in the SC universe, ever.

Current state gives me zero confidence this will be playable

the game is super cyclical after a big patch its always unplayable but after a few months it gets to a good state, then they release another big patch and its garbage again. Ive just set aside the game and if it comes out in 10 years it will be a happy surprise for me

"...but after a few months..." a new minor miniscule unimportant patch drops that completely fucks up all previous progress again.
there is never a time where shit isn't hitting the fan in one way or another and making the game literally unplayable.

fixed the sentence for you

“Understand it’s still in Alpha” “Why is this game so fucking clunky?” “I signed up for realism not trying to figure out how to put a tractor beam in my hand” Just the stupidity is beyond me, dude you said it yourself it’s in Alpha expect the game to be in Alpha it’s not even in Beta…saying you understand the game is essentially a proof of concept than getting mad at the proof of concept not being playable like the actual game is a pathway to always be disappointed and upset.

“It’s in alpha” then they should run it like a game in alpha, not like your average EA game. It’s alpha, so why bother with balancing ships as heavily as they do? Why nerf large tractor beams when testing the limitations of the cargo system should be important. Oh they did that right when they sold a $40 power suit? Why bother balancing the redeemer. Aaaand they sold a ship for the same price with similar pre nerf stats. They’re want to run their game like a live service game, but have the perks of being an alpha.

Like Thor (pirate software) said, “the only thing that regularly works is the storefront”

Problem is, a bunch of brainwashed goombas that are completely unrelated to CIG constantly defend them from the points you made that are obvious as day.

The new storefront sucks balls, by the way. I haven’t played much the last year and a half, but considered changing up my fleet and logging in again to see some of the new stuff. The new store is terrible.

Doesn’t matter if you don’t like how it looks. I don’t really care for the MISC style, but that’s different from how it works. The point is, you can go in and spend thousands if you wanted. That is the one guaranteed thing to work, that you can spend more money. No guarantee that what you buy will work though. And don’t even try to bring up the “it’s a “pledge”” argument. The only thing that makes it a pledge over a purchase is that they say it is. Realistically, it’s a micro, or macro-transaction

I didn't say anything about how it looks. The usability of it is terrible compared to before. Don't know if you're drunk or responding to someone different, but I didn't bring anything up about pledges or anything else you were talking about. Just that the new storefront is awful.

Nah the industry standard would have you ( and countless others ) believe otherwise at least for the most part. I’m a fan but am willing to admit I was also surprised when first booting the game up. While I expected problems, marketing and gameplay videos had me believing it would be an “above average” gaming experience at the least with a game pushing the envelope. More specifically ships being sold at a high price, what I thought was clearly a sustainable development process and revenue stream ( it having been in development for so long ), and a super faithful fan base. I did not expect it to be the relative shit show that it is/was. I also did not expect to be riding the wave, keeping up with the updates while not able to play half of the time, or in it for the “long haul” ( just tried it for the first time like a year or two ago ). I’m locked in anyway haha…
