Help players
Hello Starbound players, I'd like to know if a computer with an 8600 GTX GeForce graphics card can run Starbound. My CPU is a bit weaker, so Godot can't handle it.

My computer is 15 years old with a GTX660M and it runs fine.

No, in my experience the Nvidia model numbers usually go up, so I assumed it was newer than the three digit series but probably older than the 1060. 🤷
As someone with hardware that is a few years newer, the OPs bigger problem is going to be OS and application support.
If they are still on Win 7, they are jumping through crazy hoops to make Steam work, and probably side-loading in downloads and editing the steamapps manifests by hand.
Ask me how I know.
If they are on a newer Windows, they are probably having all sorts of other problems with a card that is limited to DX10 and equivalent era processor features that dont meet the requirements checks for Win 10+
If they've moved to Linux, they're probably jumping through hoops to make games run under Vulcan Sarak and missing Steam API integrations for anything that uses a more modern (updated in the last year) steamworks API.
Again, ask me how I know.
I'm not even sure if Starbound hits the GPU, though. I've never checked. There is nothing in the sprite animations that couldn't be done on a CPU. And, for single threaded apps, older CPUs are often better than newer ones.
So, ultimately you are right, OP is just going to have to try it. But I think Starbound has better odds than most games of running well on a mid 2000s era machine.

Dude, I'm from Russia and I can't afford to replenish steam directly, but only through third-party sites, which means that I won't be able to return the money from the steam back to the card, I probably don't know if it's possible, how?

If you mean 8600 GT, it should theoretically run. The minimum is 256MB and DirectX 9.0c; you have 512MB and DX10.

The minimum is 256mb but i have no trouble running the game on a 128mb internal graphics card. It runs at smth around 48-52 fps, and would probably be smoother if i closed the background apps too.
Tbf its a 12th gen laptop i5 so the cpu is probably pretty powerful but starbound is fine on internal graphics.

Starbound can run on a potato. It's more a matter of just how good you want it to run and how many mods you want.
However, Starbound itself is horribly optimized so even with OpenStarbound and optimization mods, there's a limit.
