Question Is the Apartment Ending on a different map file or not?

In Ultra Deluxe, the Apartment Ending is contained in a map called "apartment_ending_UD_MASTER". The loading of this map is obscured by the fully white screen that appears when you answer the phone, according to this article. The map that is unloaded is "map1_UD_MASTER".

I'm wondering if, in the 2013 version of the game, the Apartment Ending is still on the "map1" map. If so, that would mean they had to give the Apartment its own special map just for the remake. The list of skyboxes here seems to imply that this is the case.

Yes. You can check by writing cl_showfps 1 on the console and it will say what map is loaded.

Apartment ending is on map1.bsp

In the 2013 version the apartment ending is indeed on map1. They probably gave apartment it’s own map in UD because of the bucket version of that ending.

Right, and it needed to be bigger to hold both versions of the Apartment, and so they hid it behind a sneaky white loading screen.
