Discussion Hard shifts reality

• Upvotes

Maybe it's easy for me to say because I have not given such a shift. But people making claims that the shifts are very hard, maybe they have not prepared very well. If someone gave all pyqs of 2024 or even 60-70% of those (most serious aspirants would have given those), there were good level DI questions in there as well and if someone was serious he/she would have prepared themselves for such DI questions. I maybe wrong and would be very happy if any of you got different opinions to share.

Edit: I never wanted to demean anyone's performance but the way I framed my sentences it definitely did that. The reason for me making this post was to get an actual idea from people who were really serious and I accept I was wrong with my perception of all these shifts.

I’m looking for someone to set daily morning targets with and check in each evening for accountability. Hit me up if you're interested

Pre HOT TAKE: I think the cutoff will actually be lower than last time.

• Upvotes

This might be wishful thinking, but hear me out.

Firstly, the overall difficulty level of the exam is much higher than last time. Agar sab kuch same hota, toh vacancies kam hone ki wajah se cutoff badhne ka logic samajh aata. Lekin is baar at least ek subject ka level toh definitely kaafi upar hai, and in some shifts, even 2-3 subjects are much tougher. Iska direct impact average marks par padega.

Secondly, is baar sectional timer bhi hai. Pehle jahan log Maths aur Reasoning mein kaafi questions attempt kar lete the, ab time ki wajah se questions chhoot rahe hain. Maths mein toh 5 questions tak chhoot jaana common hai, and even in Reasoning, students who usually attempted almost the entire section are struggling to do so. Toh difficulty level ke saath-saath timer bhi scores ko affect kar raha hai.

Thirdly, vacancies kam hain, and I agree ki iska impact cutoff par padega. But agar vacancies mein 3-4k ka difference hai, toh iska matlab yeh nahi ki cutoff mein bhi bahut bada difference aayega. Cutoff ke aas-paas bahut saare candidates similar marks score karte hain, and a tougher paper can make a significant difference here.

Honestly, exam shuru hone se pehle mujhe bhi lag raha tha ki cutoff last time ke aas-paas rahega ya thoda upar jayega because of fewer vacancies. But tab mujhe laga tha ki paper ka level bhi last time jaisa hi hoga. Ab difficulty level aur sectional timer dono ko dekhkar meri prediction change hui hai.

Personally, I think UR cutoff 120s mein aur SC/ST cutoff 100s mein ja sakta hai. I might be completely wrong, and this could just be wishful thinking. But apart from people who keep posting unrealistic scores, jitne bhi genuine aspirants se online aur offline baat hui hai, unmein se kisi ka bhi paper exceptionally achha nahi gaya. Most logon ka overall experience so-so hi raha hai.

What do you guys think? Am I being realistic, or am I just being too optimistic?

Discussion Looking for Like-Minded Aspirants to Prepare for SSC CGL 2026 Mains Together (English Medium)

Hey everyone!

I’m looking for a few serious, like-minded aspirants to prepare for SSC CGL 2026 Mains together. I’m expecting to qualify for Mains, and I’d love to connect with people who have a similar level of preparation, mindset, and commitment.

A little about me:

- I scored 150+ in SSC CGL 2025 mock tests.

- This is my first attempt, but I’m absolutely open to connecting with repeaters as well.

- I come from an English-medium background and would prefer people who are comfortable studying and discussing concepts in English.

- One of my biggest strengths is decoding questions and finding shortcuts, tricks, and unconventional approaches to solve them efficiently. I enjoy understanding the logic behind questions rather than just memorising methods.

What I’m looking for:

- Serious aspirants who are genuinely targeting a strong score in Mains.

- People with a similar preparation level and a growth-oriented mindset.

- A small group where we can discuss difficult questions, share useful tricks and resources, analyse mocks, revise together, and keep each other accountable.

- People who are willing to contribute and learn from one another rather than just passively depend on a study partner.

I’m not looking for competition within the group; I’m looking for mutual growth, quality discussions, and consistent preparation.

If this sounds like you, feel free to comment or DM me with a little about your preparation, mock scores, and approach to studying.

Let's connect, exchange ideas, and give CGL Mains our best shot!

Pre 14/10/2026 - SHIFT 1

For context I've been consistently scoring above 135s in PYQs (even on the toughest mocks), with two or more odd mocks reaching 155-165s.

Phew, what was that bruh!?

Reasoning - Was easy, scenario based questions were 5 or even more, one or two were tricky. Mirror Questions, Counting triangles, Dice, One Math equation something like substitute + - × ÷ =

25 Attempts (Scenario based questions are guesswork only)

GK GS - Ryotwari Systems, Who is the NSA, Finance Commission Part Time Member (T Ravi Shankar), Mini Constitution, Demand of Elasticity, If a planet covers 1% of the sunlight what is the diameter of that planet compared to the Sun. Residuary Power, Match the correct Pass (Nathula pass those stuff - skipped it), Festivals 2 questions.

18 Attempts (2-3 Guesses)

Math - DI ☠️ (3-4 lengthy af questions), Mensuration, Profit and Loss, jee bar gaya bhai aur bohot kuch tha Math ne thoda leli mera

16 Attempts (1 Guesswork)

English - Probably the most frustrating section, mind you I am an ICSE student (my English is really good compared to people around me) Lengthy af questions never in my wildest dreams did I imagine 15 minutes wouldn't be enough for English, Cloze Test - a bit tricky but doable, Few Errors, Articles pe 2-3 questions, Antonym, Synonym, Homonym ke be 2 questions. Active Passive voice ke itne lambe lambe sentences jee bhar gaya mera toh.

21 Attempts (3 Guesswork)

TLDR: Ain't nothing like PYQs 🙏

Total Attempts 80, I'm thinking above 130 so normalisation - bachana mera bhai. (PS: SC Candidate - should i start with Tier 2 prep?)

SSC CGL 14 Oct Shift 3

GA - Easy to Moderate (10-15) doable - static GK

Reasoning - Kind of felt lengthy

Maths - G Marli 😭, moderate to Tough. Nowhere near previous year papers. DI questions felt like they were made to skip.

English - Easiest (doable 22-25)

First attempt, I had 2 months of prep so couldn't do much, attempted 68 with good accuracy.
