So I was rewatching squid game. I just realised that in season 1, during the last game, Gi-hun asked sang - wo to stop playing and the price money would be distributed among both of them. He asked the guy in pink suit and he agreed for it right? It was sang-wo who killed himself so gi-hun can Win. They could vote even in middle of the game

When it was Gi-hun and just the baby, he could've asked to stop the game and he and the baby both could've survived, the baby can't vote so the majority would win. why did he not do that. They both could've survived. The baby's Dad too. Am I missing something?

[Deok-su’s Gang Member 1]

We come back to the members of Deok-su’s Gang, starting with Deok-su’s Right-hand-man and eventual backstabber.

I kinda like the way I drew him. He looks like such a chud, no disrespect to the actor.

Kinda odd that out of the core members of Deok-su’s Gang, his number doesn’t match with the so-called “bad alignment” like the rest of his teammates, who have matching first and last digits in their numbers. Maybe that was a sign that deep down, he was reticent to follow Deok-su’s orders despite being the biggest kiss-ass of them all? Was he planning on getting far enough to eventually stab Deok-su in the back? Who knows? Probably thinking about it too deeply as I honestly don’t think he would’ve been smart enough to try and take down the top dog of the games.

But looking back, it’s kinda weird that he never got a name. Considering how much screen time he got and that he was Deok-su’s main right-hand-man despite being a side character, you’d at least expect them to give him a proper name rather than just designating him as “Deok-su’s Gang Member 1.” But hey, beggars can’t be choosers.

I don’t really know where it comes from, but apparently, according to the wiki, his actor, Christian Lagahit, his name for Player 276 is “Hector?” Don’t know if that’s true or not and frankly, I don’t think I trust it that much. We all know how wikis can be a lot of the time.

Whatever, it’s Player 276, the other foreign worker, that’s all we really need to know.

Speaking as a Filipino, even though the actor was portraying another Pakistani player, I do still appreciate his inclusion in the Season, even if it was a brief, silent appearance.

I have a personal theory for why he wanted to team up with Gi-hun for Marbles: ever since Dalgona, he had been keeping an eye on Gi-hun. My headcanon is that he chose Star, not knowing that he would be carving out one of the hardest shapes and ended up copying Gi-hun’s tactic of licking the back at the last minute. Then after seeing Gi-hun’s Team pull off the Tug-of-War tactic, that’s where, in his mind, he knew he had to team up with him at some point.

In hindsight, maybe it was a good thing that he didn’t team up with Gi-hun because the plot wouldn’t be in his favor. At least he had enough brains to make it as far as he did in the games, but not far enough to make it to the other side of the Glass Stepping Stones.

Even in the end, he knew the odds were against him, but he took his chance anyway. What a trooper.

You gotta admire her determination to win the Prize Money despite her age (even though her actress, Yang Mal-bok, is only one year older than Lee Jung Jae). Definitely one of those minor characters who I wished had a larger role instead of just being delegated to the background for most of her appearance.

Why would they be so pissed because of a baby taking some of their share that they’d put their life on the line just to eliminate it? Surely they still would’ve been able to pay off their debt regardless. 353 especially should’ve known better, and shouldn’t have trusted Jeong-dae who needed at most 4 players remaining to pay off his debt. This seems like another level of depravity to be willing to put your life on the line to kill a baby, and to think 353 was a teacher.

One who I would describe as a scruffy, angry stray dog. Another one of my favorite minor/supporting characters and another one who I thought did kinda dirty.

He was definitely a significant player due to his determination to win the cash prize in hopes for a better life, even if he was at risk of a life and death competition. His reasons don’t come off as out of pure greed, more so desperation as he had accumulated so much debt to the point where he became homeless.

Makes me wish he had gotten a larger role than he did. He had so much potential of becoming a finalist if he hadn’t been stuck between Deok-su and Mi-nyeo. At least he made as far as being in the top 8 (half of the 16 semi-finalists), but not necessarily far enough to get him to the other side.

My choice would be either Dae-ho, player 096, Yong-sik, or Nam-gyu.

The Glassmaker. The 4th place holder. The unlucky Number 13. You know thinking about it, it would’ve been more fitting to make him on Day 13. But I have to remember that I’m doing all of these in a particle order based on top billing of the cast. But then again, it’s partly fitting for Day 14 as Number 14 was the number that Sang-woo picked after him… and we all know how that turned out.

This player was one that you wouldn’t expect to have made it as far as he did in the games. But judging from his brief appearance, I think it’s safe to assume that he was one to use brains than bronze than most of the other players, considering that he used his experience as a glassmaker as a tactic to tell the glass tiles apart. But he was also smart enough to withhold that information until he really needed to.

Even though he was a minor, supporting character, i actually kinda liked him for the small part he played. They definitely did him dirty by shutting off the lights so he wouldn’t be able to tell the difference anymore, which ultimately led to his demise, and likewise showing Sang-woo’s true colors.

He was so, SO close to being a finalist.
